I have had a wonderful and exciting life in the past 50 years. After graduating with a BS in Nursing from FSU, I worked at Emory until wanderlust overcame me!
I became a "sky goddess" for United Airlines in 1966, where I had an extraordinary career flying all over the world. I have lived in Chicago (2 yrs.) and in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 42 years where I met my physician husband, Rod. We had a great marriage for 35 years until he died 3 years ago. I was a stepmother to his 3 boys, whom I reared from their teenage years, and who always called me Mom.
In 1984 I went back to school and became certified as a professional personal image consultant, doing personal colors, makeup, skincare, wardrobe planning, personal style, etc. I have just retired from that career this year, but I am still passionate about its value in one's life.
In 2001 I co-founded a woman's non-profit organization called Career Closet in San Mateo County. We help disadvantaged and under-served women who come to us from county sponsored job skills training programs, prison, shelters, or other support networks. We offer them an interview suit and a week's worth of clothes for their job, all gratis. Clothes come to us from people just like you and me. They can then come back to us and shop very inexpensively for any other needs or wants they may have. The economy has hurt us just like everyone else, so we are constantly trying to find funding sources, and so far so good. We provide an important service to our community, and I'm very proud of what we've been able to accomplish.
I am at a crossroads in my life, thinking that I need to leave California and move closer to home. I am considering a move to Greenville, SC, where I have favorite relatives. Perhaps I will have made my decision by the time our reunion occurs.
Looking forward to seeing you all and hearing about your life. See you in May!
