Bring us up to date with your life:
After graduation from Northside I attended the University of Chattanooga and the University of Virginia where I received a BS and CMT respectively. At UVa I met the love of my life, Frank Briggs. We were married June 3, 1966 and settled in Atlanta. We had lots of fun rearing two daughters and a son, all of whom took their degrees at UVa. I worked on and off for several years as a Medical Technologist and left to become the Director of Marketing in the early years of Frank's Financial Consulting business, Briggs & Associates/ AXA Advisors.
My life was forever changed in 1980 when a friend introduced me to Bible study and I began a relationship with the Lord. Elyse (Reinhard)'s husband, Steve Lawson was then the Georgia Director of Prison Fellowship and helped me meet a young man, Johnny, who had burglarized our home and was in the Fulton County jail. Steve helped me work with the court system to have Johnny probated to a Christian residential rehabilitation program where he learned to become a productive citizen. That led to years of mentoring and teaching women's Bible studies in various metro jails and prisons. For the past dozen years Frank and I have worked to improve the opportunities of low income inner city children culminating in the development of the Atlanta Youth Academy ; and an after school program, a Say Yes! Center.
Our favorite activities are spending time with any of our ten precious grandchildren, often in the company of other NSHS classmates at various sporting and other preteen activities; and relaxing at our beloved cabin on Lake Allatoona where I've been going for almost 60 years!
