Football Videos
Thanks to David Cooper for preserving the reels of film that are reproduced below. And a special thanks to internet guru Gary Sandow ('65) for web hosting these videos for us. The first video is the second half of the Westminster playoff game from the 1963 AAA Championship season. The second video is the second half of a mystery game. Help us identify the game.
UPDATE: Mickey Lingle, Glenn Johnson, and David Cooper identified the mystery game. It was the1960 AAA Championship game against Valdosta. Here is Mickey's recollection of the game:
After watching football game 2, I will make a guess that it was the state championship game in Valdosta thast we lost 20 to 14. Ed Pritchett was #16 & played both offense & defense. #22 was very tall, Freddie Guy was 6'4" +/-. I believe #22 was Freddie. I will never forget when Ramsey stopped the bus short of the city limits & spoke to us as we could see in front of the bus were mounted motercycles, highway patrol, county sheriffs & city police cruisers with lights blinking.
Thanks also to Don Donaldson for supplying the 45 rpm record of the AHS Band playing Glory to Our Devils, the Alma Mater, Saints, and I Love Paris (don't we all?)! Thanks also to Rich Patsios who led us to believe recordings existed and to all the AHS Band members who supported our class through our corporate events. The jukebox for the music is at the end of this page, if you want to replay or turn it off.
WESTMINSTER PLAYOFF GAME
Here is one of Glenn's recollections of the Westminster game:
FOR THOSE WATCHING..., BE SURE TO WATCH FOR THE PUNT RETURN OF COOPER. THE GREATEST RUN I EVER SAW. IT WAS BROUGHT BACK BECAUSE OF A PENALTY THAT HAD NO BEARING ON THE PLAY. STILL, IT WAS MY ALL TIME BEST RUN.
