Hi everyone. It was really simple to reserve the room at the Embassy Suites in Arcadia. The rooms are really discounted. They went from $170. to $127.00. Thank you for working hard on that for us. It's a done deal Yolie. Jojo, Angie, Me... and maybe Connie and my lil sister Laura. I hope there is enough dancing partners or its gonna be all girls on the dance floor again. (hahaha)

Does anyone know much about the teachers back then? Through my older sister I heard that Mr. Bailer was retiring this year. What about Mr. Horsely, Ms. Kelly, Mr. Kozan?

Hello everyone! uh... I mean, Dons.
I am so glad that they are expanding the reunion to include 85 & 86 as the reunion for those years a few years back just happened to be somewhat lame and poorly attended. I really hope that the turnout this year will be much better.

STORY TIME!!
I was in the locker room when I was a Freshman and Victor Corral was bugging me and hitting me w/a Rat-Tail (towel) and I was getting pissed but I could not say anything or get beat up. All of a sudden Coach Reclusado came out of nowhere with this cut off Baseball bat,and hit Victor behind the knees! He hit him a few times, and all places where there was no unusual bruising. Coach Rec was laughing in a cackling way;He called Victor a "Bully-Cholo" and told him if he ever caught him doing that again, he would pants him and throw him into the girls locker room after they went to dress after class. I remember Victor laughing & talking smack as he was released from the evil hands of the Coach, but later I saw him crying in the shower, holding his knee....funny; I kinda felt sorry for him for a second.
A lot people disliked Coach Rec., but secretly, he was my hero! LOL!

STORY TIME!!
I was just 17, recently graduated. I went out to the garage and my Dad was busy doing his thing and I told him I was going to the Post office and signing up for the draft. He paused and asked if I needed a ride. Funny. I had just been given a car. He acted strange, but this was what he wanted;a responsible son who was disciplined. I got to the Post Office and filled out the card, then took it to the cashier. He reviewed it and told me to deposit it in the Induction Box on a table. I was shaking. I kept thinking about Granada, Afghanistan & other places where U.S. Military was "policing only", but suffering casualties. I dropped the card in the box, and that was that. I went back home, feeling a little prouder of myself, and even a little more grown up. I arrived at my home and Dad was in the kitchen. I said hi and he asked how it went. I told him it was easy, just drop a card in a box. He said,"I hope they lose that card..." and he walked out to the garage again.
This from the man who claimed to me, just days before in an argument, "I hope they draft you and you get your S!%$#T together...!"
Well, Dad; I did allright and I have it together....because of you & Mom; I did'nt need the Military after all.

...I remember once I was on a Basketball away game at Royal Oak HS, and we were on a losing streak. It was really a bad season. We were walking to the bus, and these guys from R.O.H.S. started laughing at us and making cracks about our team. All of a sudden, little Mateo Manegdeg throws down his gear bag, faces them all and says to them, "You want to fight me?" I also dropped my bag (I was shaking like a leaf) and proceeded to roll up my sleeves and size up the guy closest to me, trying to act tuff in my 2XL uniform on my little 5'10:, 130lb. frame. I was scared, but had to back up my Teamate, you know!? They were shocked and didn't say a word. Then they said, "We were just teasing; It was the Football Team we meant! and they laughed again. Thinking I was outta the line of fire, I started to get my bag...then I hear Mateo say, "My brother plays football for SV; gotta problem with that?" I remember thinking,"Oh, no-this guy is really in a bad mood.?!"
The Royal Jokes backed down and left and we got in the bus. I asked Mateo about his brother on our football team and he said, "I don't have one. I am just tired of people making fun our school!" Hahaha! Good times....if anyone sees Mateo, tell him he's my Hero!

Larry, where was I during all these stories? I have the worst memory! Was I adopted or something and came to the family late in life? I never knew these stories!

Never shared my story about Dad until now....it was a personal memory I have & one of the few times I had him alone at that age. Those were bad years between he and I. Hard to talk about.

The basketball incident happened in 81 & I was so scared it isn't even funny! Mateo & I did not know what we were getting into!

Larry.... I didn't know Victor Corral was a bully. I knew he was a cholo. He was the prettiest cholo I ever met. Those big brown eyes and dark curly eyelashes... RIP Victor. He was my first slow dance. Wish I had some pictures to share.
