WELCOME BACK! Our 30-Year Reunion Weekend is set for July 22 - 23, 2011. The schedule of events is still being finalized and will be posted here as soon as it is complete!

EVENT SCHEDULE:
FRIDAY, JULY 22, 2011:
"Welcome Back" Mixer, 70s Theme
Southside Middle School Cafetorium, 70 Scott Drive (see map below)
6:30 p.m. Meet and Greet
7:00 p.m. Buffet Dinner
8:00 p.m.-Midnight 70s Music and Entertainment by Local DJ
70s-style clothing and accessories are encouraged! Keith Sturch Photography will be on hand during part of the evening to take special photos and a group shot. We will be decorating with pictures, posters, and other items we grew up with during the 70s. Please feel free to bring your own photos or other memorabilia for everyone to enjoy throughout the weekend!
SATURDAY, JULY 23, 2011:
6:30 a.m. - Early morning run (or walk) hosted by Michael Candler; those interested should meet up at the SHS Track/Football field which is located at the entry to the School (left hand side).
8:00 - 9:00 a.m. - Drop-In Breakfast at MorningSide Coffee House, located at 616 Harrison Street, near the old Sonic location. They will have assorted homemade items available, such as cinammon rolls, scones, banana bread, pumpkin bread, biscuits and gravy, etc., plus a variety of specialty coffees. This price for this is not included in the weekend ticket price but should only run $4 - $5 per person.
9:30 a.m. - Campus Tour, hosted by Steve Clark. Please meet at the NEW elementary school, located on the right just south of the entry to the main campus.
11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Family Social, Activity Center, Desha Baptist Church, 2655 Heber Springs Road. The Church has an awesome Activity Center offering inside volleyball and basketball, and has a pool table, air hockey and foosball. A light sandwich lunch will be available.
6:30 p.m. - ? - Pool Party/Cook Out at Martha's, 2 Riverview Road. Luau theme so feel free to pull out the bright colors. The guys will be cooking hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken, and Penny and Marva are providing some great side dishes. A variety of soft drinks and water will be provided; please "BYOB" if you want anything beyond that.
OTHER REUNION DETAILS
The Reunion Committee has been busy making preparations for a fun-filled Reunion Weekend, and we sincerely hope EVERYONE will join us in this 30-year celebration!!
This time around, we have expanded the invitation list to include many “old” friends with whom we went to school but did not get to graduate with for one reason or another, and several of them have already indicated they will be there! We have also invited a number of former SHS faculty members, along with Rusty’s, Ronota’s, Bobby’s, and Cary’s parents, and are hoping they will join us as well. (In case you haven’t heard, we’ve lost Bobby Wells since our last reunion.)

PRICE AND PAYMENT INFORMATION
We have worked hard to keep the cost per person as low as possible, yet still have enough money to provide a fun weekend. If you pay by June 25, 2011, we are offering an “Early Bird Special” of $40 per person, or $75 per couple. After June 25, the price will be $50 per person, or $95 per couple. This price includes all Friday night and Saturday afternoon food and activities. It does not include the Saturday morning breakfast or Saturday night dinner at this point, but that may change if we have enough people attending and depending on the final details. Paying by June 25 will help us plan for the correct number of guests and make the necessary deposits.

If you pay online, please help us out by adding to your total $2.00 for couples
or $1.00 for singles to help offset the fees that PayPal charges us to use this

The hotels listed below have offered us special rates for the weekend. Kids stay free at all, but you’ll need to tell them how many are staying in the room. Be sure and state that you’re with the Southside HS Class of ‘81 Reunion to get the reduced rates:
*Comfort Suites, 100% smoke and pet free, 1227 North St. Louis Street, 870-698-1900, $85.49 + tax for double room. Rate includes full breakfast. Book by 7/5/11 for special rate.
*Batesville Super 8, Maximum of 10 smoking rooms available, 1287 North St. Louis Street, 870-793-5888, $53.09 + tax for double room. Rate includes their Super 8 Super Star breakfast. Book by 7/7/11 for special rate.
*Ramada Inn, smoking and nonsmoking rooms available, 1325 North St. Louis Street, 870-698-1800, $75 + tax for double room. Breakfast available but not included in the room rate. Book by 7/1/11 for special rate.
*Best Western Scenic Motor Inn (atop Ramsey Mountain), smoking and nonsmoking rooms available, 773 Batesville Boulevard, 870-698-1855, $66.99 + tax for double room. Continental breakfast included. Book by 7/7/11 for this rate (we noted, however, that the rate quoted was the same as their online booking rate, so this does not appear to be a special rate).
*Holiday Inn Express, smoking and nonsmoking rooms available, 1130 White Drive (behind Western Sizzlin), 870-698-2700. Breakfast is included, but they did not call back with special rates by the time we had to print this.
CLASSMATE SLIDESHOW
Becky Blanks Watkins is putting together a special DVD slideshow presentation of classmate photos that will be shown throughout the evening on Friday. To assist her with this project, we are asking for your help. Becky needs each of us to send 5 to 7 photos which will be incorporated into this electronic "walk down memory lane." Ideally, the photos will cover your life from early on through now, and can include baby shots, grade school, high school, senior pictures, wedding, family portraits, funny or serious, etc.
Please scan your photos into JPG or JPEG format and email them to kbhcomputers@gmail.com by June 15, 2011. You may also forward digital photos to her email address in the same manner, as long as they are saved in JPG or JPEG format.
Please do not ask Becky to use photos you already have posted on Facebook, since many times, Facebook strips down the resolution so pictures will load faster.
If you do not have a scanner, Becky has graciously agreed to scan the photos for you. Because of the extra work involved, please choose this option only if you absolutely do not have access to a scanner. You may mail the photos to her at the address below. She will return your photos at the reunion, or you may enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you want them returned sooner. Her address is:
