Where do I start? My life has been a rollercoaster ride since graduation. My high points are my children and grandchildren. I'd rather not think too hard about the low points, but I do thank God for them because they've made me one strong woman!

I got married for the third, and final time on August 8, 2009...a week after our 30th reunion. Larnell (aka Lonnie) was a wonderful person, who brought much joy to my life. He passed away on December 11, 2016, after a year-long battle with liver cancer.

I founded a private Christian school in August of 2008, and added an adult literacy center in July of 2009, so my hands are quite full...however, I'm grateful to God for allowing me to achieve some of my dreams.

Planning our 30th and 35th reunions were dreams come true for me. I'd missed the first two reunions due to circumstances I couldn't control, but I made a vow to myself that I would be in the MIDDLE of the next ones. I was SO thrilled to be able to spend these wonderful weekends with everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again at the 40th reunion!

I came to BRHS for my Junior and Senior year from a private school where I had been dubbed "book worm" and "teacher's pet" my entire life. I finally began to "find" myself when I arrived at BRHS, and was relieved that I was at a school where there were other "book worms"...giving me the chance to blend in and actually feel normal. I felt so comfortable that I began to use my adopted Swahilian name "Ibura," which previously had only been used around my family and friends outside of school. I'll never forget how the teachers at BRHS even had "Ibura" on their roll books as a nickname for me. Over the years, I've always told people that my best two years of school were spent at BRHS because I was allowed to be me.

I wanted to go straight to college when I finished high school, but getting married changed the plan.

I've always wanted to visit Paris.

The farthest I've been from Baton Rouge is San Francisco, California.

I've been a crisis counselor with the rape crisis center for the past thirteen years. My interest stemmed from the fact that I was molested as a child, and the experience literally stunted my emotional growth throughout the early part of my adulthood.

I would have spent more time with my friends.
