Thanks Kenny, I work on it.  Love the work!

Marti, damn always got a dandy idea (Preacher, maybe Ishouldn't say damn, sh%t I screwed up).  I like the skatepark idea a lot.  Any thoughts on supervision?  Mike St. John would be great, not sure he'd be interested now.  Anyway I'm on 'board'.

Several have mentioned that BC is without a Skatepark but we do have a very large and active indoor park.  Battleground Skatepark is located in a large former warehouse just West of the intersection of Raymond road and East Michigan Ave.  They usually close during the month of July but are open the other 11 months.  Just saying.

Larry... as a non skate parker.. I did not know there was an indoor skate park. Here that Marty?
To Tom Lusk... hey Tom... nice play on words with saying you were "on board" with a skate park.
I wish I was on board. A "long board". I enjoy watching the youth in the neighborhood roll down my street on theres while texting on there cell pbones. It's very relaxing.

I think Jim Emory did a fantastic job on the reunion logo. Hope the reunion and the other events
connected to it are all successful.

Hey everyone who thought the Car Show at the Reunion was a good idea. Martha really needs to know if you are serious about bringing your 4-wheeled babies. She is making plans with the Holiday Inn, a band for live music, a cash bar, perhaps some vehicles brought over from local automobile dealers, etc. But to firm up final details, she REALLY needs to be contacted. If you're interested, READ ON!

Car Show Info - Saturday September 5th; Noon to 3 p.m. at the back parking area of the Holiday Inn on Harper Village Drive near the pool and restaurant patio.

Live music provided by the Kalamazoo Avenue Band featuring their blues mobile. Cash bar.

We would like to see many cars show up for this event.

Please email Martha Hoffman (martha.hoffman@twc.com) or call (859-523-3040) to let her know you will be bringing a car to show.

I drove this 1963 Ford Falcon my college years and after until about 1979 when under-body rust got the best of it.  Wish I had been able to keep it because it was somewhat of a classic--English or German made four-speed floor shift.  I saw somwhere that only 500 of this model came off the assembly line. Some of you who went to KCC may remember it.

About the car show:   Can we bring our 'rental' cars?   I'm sure those of us who are flying in from everywhere and are renting cars will be driving some good ones. Well, at least I always get a rental car that is a lot newer than the one I drive at home. (2003 Chevy Cavalier, natural gas $1.69 per gallon).  smiley

I like to see classic cars, but anything newer would do, also. I hope Martha can get some car dealers to bring some new ones out. I remember that the dealerships loaned cars for the BCCHS homecoming parade, especially the convertibles that carried the cheerleaders and homecoming court and queen (which was usually one and the same).

Ha ha ha Lorraine...we've decided just sitting around the parking lot drinking beer will be a gas.

Ken,

The local skate park is having a fund drive to expand and improve.  This might be of interest to the group.

The above link will lead to the BattleGround Newsletter.  The owner of the skatepark is a local young man that has a real concern for the kids and wants to give them somewhere to go that is away from the streets.  He is barely breaking even.  Our church, Calvary Baptist Church, Battle Creek has taken this venture on as part of our mission outreach and can vouch for Andrew and Melissa Wichterman's dedication to his efforts.

Hey Bob, that's a great looking Falcon!  I do believe there were not many produced with the 4 speed.  That's one you certainly should have kept.  Unfortunately the rust-bug is something that got into many a fine Michigan car over the years.  Salty roads are the worst enemy for them.

I've really been enjoying the website and forum, following everyone.  Pics are great and the folks running the show are to be commended.   It's looking less likely I'll be able to do some last-minute adjustments and make it for the reunion tho, and I'll feel ultra-guilty for not being at the car show especially.  Would love to just sit in the parkng lot and drink some beer with the rest.  Wish we could get Arcadia products here.  Bells from Kalamazoo is easy to find, but a bit expensive.

Terry, I replaced the falcon with this 1978 Datsun 510 Hatchback that I still drive.  It has about 170K miles; some rust issues even though Its been in Nashville since new.  This is what it looks like today.

I would like to Thank Mike Doyle and all involved for our reunion website. For what I got out of it ( which was a lot) the site rocked. 1965 times over. I hope all who attend/attended the reunion activities had a blast. I hope the car show was a success.

Thanks Ken -  all who work on the committee are having a great time and the car show has now evolved into "Jackson Street Parking Lot Revisited" where we will all gather with our respective wheels at the back lot of the Holiday Inn Saturday September 5th from Noon to Three and enjoy music and good times.  Be There or Be Square.

Martin and Ken,

It would be great if our class could donate towards Battleground Skate Park.  If you would continue with talking with our class, maybe it would be possible.  I know Andrew Wichterman, owner, would be more than happy to show representatives around.

I hope others in our class might be excited about helping keep these kids off the street and in a great environment.  With enough money the park can expand hours and since it is an indoor skate park they can skate year around.

Thanks,

Larry

I like the idea of supporting the Skate Park very much!  Ann Arbor recently developed it's first skate park for the city, and it has been a huge hit.  It's a safe environment for the kids to experience, and it has drawn a lot of positive feedback from the community.
