Just wanted to wish you, Brenda, a very happy birthday. Thanks for all you have done to keep us together. It is alot of hard work, but I do appreciate it!! Always fun to see where we have come from and where we have gone! Thought it was interesting when you asked for our birthdate, on the profile...did not matter. Everybody already knows in this group how old (young) we all are!
Cheers to BRENDA... I , for one, salute you on your special day tomorrow. Hope you have a special day planned, and we can expect many , many more years to gab on this site!
Love to all that are reading,
Margaret

Sorry I'm so late in responding to the many great birthday wishes for me. THANKS A LOT TO EVERYONE! I don't know how I ever got this job, but it has been nothing but rewarding! I guess I felt that somebody needed to try to keep us all "Ram-connected" in some way. We all had such a great time growing up in Belle Glade & it gave us great & some not so great memories, but that goes with growing up. The important thing is that now we look back and appreciate the opportunity we had to grow up in such a special atmosphere. I have changed our site to a new design created for us by the web's creators. I think this "60's theme is great! What's your thoughts? Brenda

Brenda, I finally got relogged in to the site, thank you. However I think you had done a GREAT JOB with the site before. I guess I'll just have to get use to the new, have really enjoyed this site very much. Thanks for all you have done to create such a wonderful place for us to talk and visit with all our friends. Just when an ole' country boy gets used to it, it changed. Just joking, Brenda, I didn't take long to figure out we had a new format and I always love another password. I like the new layout. Does anyone remember that day in B.G. when they had us all go out in between the buildings and told us that President Kennedy had been shot ?

Carolyn,
You are so right about the still life. Everything just stopped that day. I am supposed to be in Ocala from the 3rd-7th of November at the E-One Firetruck plant. Hopefully I won't have a hurricane chase me all over Fla. like Faye did. Mike Lagarde "68"

Mike when you logged on to the website after I changed the design did you have to create another password? If so, that's the problem. I've had 4 classmates e-mail since the web design changed to say they couldn't log on. I've got to e-mail the web creator & ask if this is normal. I don't think this is supposed to happen as I'm always checking out new designs. Isn't this just like a woman? Can't make up her mind or be satisfied?? Anyway do you ever make it to any of LSU's football games? My niece (Tim Prescott's daughter) was a cheerleader for LSU for 2 yrs before deciding it was just too much. It was exciting for us to see her on tv! Tim's other daughter, Jenni, plays soccer for Auburn. She's all of 4'11" and has been a starter for 2 yrs. Their game was televised against Georgia last week & we got to see her in action. Carolyn, speaking of Thanksgiving our family is headed to Arcadia for that weekend to camp in our 5th wheel on Warren's hunting camp. Can't wait. Hoping for cooler temps as well. The little boys are about as excited as I am! I see we've had several new additions to the website since my last e-mail about creating profiles. Keep them coming all you "peekers" out there! Brenda

Brenda;
I really didn't have any trouble logging on after I realized the site was just slightly different. I'm in Hattiesburg Ms. at an army training site. and it is right at freezing. I hope Ocala is warmer when I go next week but I've been there when it was brr. cold. Mike Lagarde "68"

Mike, I remember exactly where I was when it was announced that President Kennedy had been shot. I was in 7th grade & was standing outside of PE with Wanda Goggans waiting for the bell to ring. How many more of us remember where we were at that moment??

Well,I'm back in Ocala, it is much nicer than last trip. So far we don't have a cane going back and forth across the state. We finish up on thursday and I'll take off on fri. Looks like there is something brewing around Nicaragua could possibly develop hope not I've had enough between Faye, Gustav,& Ike. I had damage from both of those bad boys. Mike Lagarde "68"

Okay did everyone forget their logins or maybe every body hit the deer camp. Finished in Ocala and took 27 to Tallahassee, I get tired of I-75 & I-10. While in Ocala I was really surprised at the L.S.U. fans for the game with Alabama this week. Bert Murray would be proud. I have also seen this scientific phenomena in Ala. when L.S.U. plays Auburn, all my Bama friends pull for L.S.U. and vice versa. Mike Lagarde "68"

Okay, Here's a laugh for everybody. After the BIG Thanksgiving dinner, Carol and I, joined by her cousin and his wife from Atlanta, went down to Okeechobee to ride our bikes (yes bicycles, no motors) around the dike.
First day rode from Moorehaven to Belle Glade (30 miles).
Second day, Moorehaven to Lakeport (9.5 mi.) and got rained out. Third day Okeechobee to Pt. Mayaca (21 mi.). So that's about 61 miles done and had to come back north.
Scenery was beautiful and bottoms were sore!!! Stay tuned for part 2 as soon as soreness eases up! Take care all and Merry Christmas!

Judy Butler O'Steen

I remember riding my bicycle from my home 408 S. E. Ave. E to school and back home, rode all over Belle Glade even up to Pahokee dike but, I can not imagine riding it to Okeechobee. Especially now at 57 so I think that you were pretty adventurous or as my Dad would say crazy one. I'll stick to my golf cart. By the way if you are wondering who I am I didn't graduate with you but, we did go to school together. I moved my last year to Pa. and graduated there. Take care of yourself and rest up from the trip. Hope your soreness will soon go away.

Okay Larry & Carol there you go trying to show us all up! I play tennis regularly & I don't think I could accomplish that! Once Paul & I decided to ride our bikes for exercise and we made it as far as the next neighborhood before we decided we had already had enough and had to tuck our tails and head back home!!LOL Don't think I've been on mine since. Paul does occasionally ride the grandsons around but that's it. Yes, Judy I remember when we rode our bikes all around Belle Glade. And we use to walk home at night from the Hugo. My have things changed. I sure hope everyone has a very MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I'm hosting the Buckner Christmas party next weekend and that should be pretty fun. We have a bounce house for the kids and the adults do a "white elephant" gift exchange which makes for a lot of fun after indulging a little! Then we're off to Charlotte, NC with Amy, Scott, & the kids after Christmas to spend a few days with her in-laws. Brenda

Yes Judy, I do remember you. Thanks for the encouraging words. I think part 2 of the Lake Okeechobee adventure will have to wait until after the holidays. The sections we rode were mostly paved. The unpaved sections are more difficult.
Brenda, how could a 300 lb. 57 yr old show anybody up? We did surprise ourselves by completing that many miles. I guess the preparation up here in the hills helped more than we thought. We really are in shape....just not the shape we would like!!!! (Round is a shape isn't it?)
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Hey Larry, I remember riding our bikes down the hill at the dike at Slim's. Don't remember how the heck we got up there but it sure was fun going down!! Skip and I have always said that we would try the bike trail out on the dike but have not accomplished that yet. Hat's off to you and Carol. Brenda, sorry haven't talked to you lately. Hope you have a great Christmas and a good time at Amy's in-laws. We had a great Thanksgiving at my mom's. We had about 50 of us. The Priest clan is getting pretty big!!!! My sisters and I spent the night with Ann-----should I say more. Everyone have a "Merry, Merry Christmas"!

Hey gang,
Merry Christmas to all of the old & not so old gang from B.G.H.S ! It has been a while since I've been to B.G. I went down there @ 4 years ago and didn't have a lot of time to spend. I had to get back up to Ocala and didn't have much time to really get around in town. I wanted to wish everyone A MERRY CHRISTMAS and hope all of us have a great 2009. I enjoyed the bike trip story, we used to ride to Pahokee often on top of the dike.

Hope everyone received my e-mail about making your reservations. I know it's early but I want to let the remaining rooms go by May 15th so that we're not responsible for them. Please start saving your pennies! Also remember, the cost per person has ALWAYS paid for the faculty dinners (we have NEVER charged the faculty)although they have offered. That cost also has to cover the entertainment and all the little underlying costs that go into making a successful reunion. If you absolutely CAN'T make it for both nights I will divide the costs per night.

Hope everyone is having a good New Year. Brenda, what happened to the music when you first sign on?
Hate to be the bearer of sad news, but thought some of you may want to know that Jodie Averill/Parnell 's oldest son was killed a few weeks back in Bradenton .. Edward Watts, 31, and I believe he had just finished his second tour in Iraq/Afganistan..His wife is a teacher there.
Also, Henrietta Legrand's mother died and I was able to attend her Memorial in Gainesville this past week. Henrietta is living in Dunnellon now and she looks great! Karen Parker was there with Barry. They are living in Arcadia..It was so good to see them again, even under the circumstances. Always great when we can re-connect.
