High points: Teaching history and social studies methods at Iowa State Univ; portrayng George Washington to about 400 classrooms and 40,000 students since 1976; participating in many conferences related to teaching and scholarship; meeting ex-students; enjoying the success of our children in academics. Our daughter graduated from Northwestern University, served in the Peace Corp, received a MA from the University of Maryland and now works for the EPA in Washington, DC. Our son graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and has a PhD from Stanford, participated in Elderhostels both as a teacher and participant.

I loved team teaching History and English with Jim Morgan, Myra Lupton, Walt Hopkins and teaching government and speech with Richard Clark. I also enjoyed coaching golf although it was mostly taking attendance. I remember when students went on a lunchroom strike because of the poor food they were served. I remember that a student's father tried to get me fired for some materials I had given students. I remember holding mock trials in my government classes. I can't believe that I had students write an essay every week that would allow them to get a C. If they wanted a B, they did another assignment and an A, it was a research paper.
