I am working on pre-requisites for nursing school right now. I've finally decided what I want to be when I grow up! My ultimate goal is to become a nurse-midwife.

Beyond my husband and son I have two grown and married step-children. My step-daughter was nice enough to make me a grandma at the age of 35. My husband's kids and their spouses are wonderful people and we have a lot of fun together.

I love to tell people about the 1960's style academic wing of our school. How you could hear the other classrooms near you and stand on a chair to see over the dividers.

The story that best demonstrates how well you could hear things that were going on in other classrooms was the day that Mike Burton wore a skirt to school. I'm sure you remember that while girls were able to wear skirts to school on warm days, the boys could not wear shorts. Seeking to highlight this injustice, Mike bravely wore a skirt on a hot spring day. (Does anyone know, by the way, who lent Mike their skirt?)

I don't remember anything that Mr. Burton said to Mike that day. I just remember that you could hear the ruckus all the way across the academic wing.

Mike, did you think that your dad wasn't going to find out??? Anyway, thanks for the memory!
