After graduating Beloit (without having to take an Area Exam!) and moving back to Southern California, I spent 35 years (1972 to 2006) working as editor/tester/writer for motorcycle publications (Cycle News, Cycle Guide. Motorcyclist, Motorcycle Cruiser, and Sport Rider magazines and their websites). Along the way, I rode thousands of motorcycles millions of miles, through 49 states and a dozen countries and wrote thousands of articles about my experiences.
I also spent 15 years successfully and profitably roadracing motorcycles semi-professionally around the U.S.
Circa 2000, I served as Principal Investigator/Editor of the National Agenda for Motorcycle Safety (https://one.nhtsa.gov/people/injury/pedbimot/motorcycle/00-NHT-212-motorcycle/toc.html), a joint project of the NHTSA and the motorcycle industry.
I was fortunate to make my avocation my occupation and be successful at it, having more fun than one should be allowed to get paid for.
In 1984, I took up flying, and have since landed my own airplanes in 49 states and flown over 5000 hours. I currently live in a residential hangar at the scenic, semi-rural Santa Paula (California) Airport, with my son, my dog, my airplane, and a dozen or so motorcycles.
Despite some classmates' predictions to the contrary, I did live to be 30 AND continued riding and racing motorcycles after Beloit. I'm glad I never heeded their warnings to stop riding.
