BEYER THOMAS J. "JAKE" BEYER, 49, of Battle Creek, and formerly of Berea, OH, died August 27, 2010. Jake was born September 23, 1960, to William and Joan Beyer in Cleveland, OH. Jake earned his Bachelor's degree in Communication from Baldwin-Wallace College and his Master's degree from Western Michigan University in Public Administration. He went on to work for the Federal Center for nearly 25 years, where he was a Management and Program Analyst (Course Director). Jake was highly active, belonging to the Knights of Columbus for three years. He was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, and especially loved collecting Lionel Trains. Jake is survived by his loving wife, Helen; two sons, Will and Aaron Beyer, both of Battle Creek; his parents, William and Joan Beyer, of Berea, OH.; his sister, Elizabeth (Tim) Shillings, of Jacksonville, FL.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jake was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, William and Genevieve Loomis. At the request of the family, they will receive friends MONDAY, AUGUST 30, 2010, FROM 4 - 8 P.M., AT THE FARLEY-ESTES & DOWDLE FUNERAL HOME, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Jake's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 61 N. 23rd St., Battle Creek 49015, officiated by Fr. Robert F. Creagan. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
