Rich was a good friend. I remember going to see Pink Floyd in his '57' Chevy at the Cleveland Stadium. Bonnie a friend from Middleburg got us a Logge, we all thought it was better than a cruise. I remember visiting him on weekends home from college. It took me back when I heard from his parents Dottie and Ray. They treated me like a son.

Rich went to the same church as I did--St. Paul's Lutheran Church.  We were friends, and I remember him as a quiet, shy, very nice guy.  He and Konrad Aukerman were best friends to the end.  There are lots of memories I have of him, particularly in Teen League and Luther League, because I think that's when he really began going to church.  I knew that he had developed a drug habit, which really saddened me, because I thought it was such a waste of such a great person.  At his funeral, I learned that he died the night he was discharged from treatment.  This is the saddest loss of a friend I will ever remember.  But, I really do believe that I will see him again on the other side of this life in heaven and completely restored to that image of the shaggy-haired, blond, shy kid from church that I still miss to this day.
