After high school I attended Ohio Northern University and majored in Electrical Engineering. I pledged a sorority (Delta Zeta) and became a Lil’ Sis at a fraternity (Phi Mu Delta). I really enjoyed my social life and decided that being an engineer was not something I really wanted to do. I changed majors and transferred to Cleveland State my junior year. I graduated with a dual degree in Sociology and Psychology. I worked as a mental health case manager with children at the Berea Children’s Home and Boys Hope for two years. I then worked for Jewish Family Services in Cleveland Heights with adult schizophrenics. In 2002, I started a graduate program in School Counseling (K-12) at Duquesne University. I would commute on the weekends to Pittsburgh to attend class all day on Saturdays. Our classes were held at St. Vincent College and this is where the Steelers hold their training camp. I am still a die hard Pittsburgh fan so I really enjoyed watching them practice after class. I ended up moving to Pittsburgh for my practicum and internship in 2003. I graduated with my Master's in School Counseling in December of 2004. I worked as a long term guidance sub at Latrobe Junior High School and then got a job in the Reading School District in Reading, PA. I started out as the school counselor at two 6th grade buildings, the Gateway School for Communication and Technology and the Gateway School for the Performing Arts. This school year they have hired more counselors so I am excited to only be at the Performing Arts School. My sister and her family live in Brook Park, so I like to get back to Ohio to visit my niece as much as I can.
