After graduation worked for Mahler Construction, Farmall, LeClaire Quarries. Drafted in February 1969 and served 2 years. I started driving truck in March of '71 and have passed 4 million miles. I have been in 44 states at some point and have seen a lot of America, as well as being in Germany in '69.
We like to travel and spend peaceful, relaxing times in New Mexico.

I have finally fully retired in 2023 and I'm enjoying myself. Fortunately I'm in good health and still able to do all things I like. Paula is still healthy, active.

School Story

1st school I attended was a 2 room for 8 grades in a small town in Illinois. Moved to Iowa and entered Cody Elementary in 2nd grade. Big time culture shock. after Cody, entered Bettendorf high. Again, culture shock that I never quite got over. For me, high school was pretty uneventful, except for the Kennedy assassination. I worked all through high school at Omar printing and had no interest in any curricular school activities.

Nice comment Dave. I came to Cody in 2nd grade and knew Dan all those years and worked for his dad a little one summer. However, many years later, in the early 2000's, I was hauling grain for Greenview Farms to an elevator down in Linwood, and on a really cold morning, I had an airline break and couldn't move. Dan was there unloading and he came over and said he had an extra hose, and he gave it me, still in the box. No charge, just said "here, take it". I hadn't talked to him in many many years before that. He saved me a lot of grief that day. Thanks again Dan. RIP

Happy birthday Dave! Have s great day. We're not coming up this year. Been hanging in the "high country" of Colorado, which surprisingly safer than Texas. Lol.
Harvest coming soon though, so we'll be going back.
