All,
Something I figured out when I Googled Groves High School Class of 1979.......

there are four other websites with our classmates lists, information and contacts.

1. This site.
2. http://www.grovesalumni.com/
3. http://www.classmates.com/community/class/list?communityId=10554959&year=1979&communityType=7
4. http://www.alumniclass.com/wylieegroves
5. http://www.birmingham.k12.mi.us/Alumni/Groves+Alumni/1979.htm

Not sure how to reconcile all of the different sites but it helps to know they are there.

In Savannah today, 75F and bright sunny day.
The city is gearing up for the largest St PAtricks Day Parade in the US next Tuesday. Green everywhere.

I have been live searching, googling names, sending remote messages just to see if any big or little brothers or sisters anywhere might find and forward it to one of my old bffs; there is a nice group posting pictures on facebook, and all groups should link to this page.

If we all do our part I think we can make that 85% of Falcons Finest Found..

Just found out reunion is during the peak of dream cruise. WHY. Talk about a total cluster fuck. Lord. Anyway please advise that this obvious mistake was not made. Like to be there but even from California I am not going to deal with that mess. Already have hotel flight etc... and going to Detroit but not that mess. Royal Oak is a hub for dream cruise. No parking etc.......

Please advise I have been given the wrong info. If not maybe see you all at 40 or 50.

Refund $30 bucks.

The reunion committee planned ahead, and was aware of the Dream Cruise. It is the weekend before 8-15-09.
So parking will not be a problem.

First of all--thanks Earl for putting this together.

Earl, please realize that even though I may be the only person saying it to your face, we are all impressed that you ended up a successful businessman with a nice family after the lunchroom incident with Eric Freeburg and the french fries. If that had turned into a food-fight then you very easily could have ended up in San Quentin if Rolph had his way.

Second, John Dowd made a very good comment--why don't we merge the databases of the various websites that feature our class so that people that are not aware of this site can be notified?

Finally, why is the pre-party at Tyler's house? I am sure that Jerry Smith's parents are going to the bank or the store that night. That would give Jerry the perfect reason to have another "instant-party" at his house.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the reunion.

What a great time we had at the reunion! Wally Carter (class of 78) and Bill Eagan(class of 80) would like it if we had a combined class reunion party in 5 years....would you be interested??

If you get a chance, thank both Wally and Billy for their help in taking in the money at the door!

Brian Smith and Joni Christy missed the reunion.  Both have suggested that we have a party sooner than five years or 2014.  We have had a suggestion of combining with other classes...what are your thoughts on that?

Stu Hixon just sent me this email and I wanted to share it....He needs our thoughts and prayers:

How you doing?  This is Stu Hixon  I’ve been planning on attending the 40th since the announcement last year.  I’ve even booked a hotel and bought my tickets.  Unfortunately, on July 10/11, my appendix ruptured while waiting in the hospital and I had two surgeries on the 11th.  They released me on the 13th and I found myself getting a low-grade fever and hurting much more than I should.  The re-admitted me on the 15th to find I had developed two abscesses and they operated on the 16th for a third time (of course, the stress on my body caused my heart to lose sinus rhythm and go into A-Flutter with a heartrate of 165-175). Once the abscesses were removed/opened, my rhythm and HR went to normal and I was finally released from the hospital on the 19th.  The cultures showed the bacteria in the abscesses was drug resistant, so now I’m home getting antibiotics infusions through a PICC line through August 1.

What is all this leading up to, I am going to have to pass on the 40th reunion on the 10th   Please pass along my best to all you see and let them know I plan to be there for our 45th.

Thanks.

Stu

Wow, tough stuff...you rest and get well Stu.  Actually, as bad as everything was, you came out pretty good...those were all serious things...thankful your prognosis is good.  Take care, Ted

Stuart Hixon

Thanks, Ted.  Feeling somewhat better, but CT scan Wednesday still shows fluid near where one of the abscesses (the one that sent my heart into bad rhythm and high HR) was located, so I'm just waiting to see what comes next.  I do have a drain in that area, so hopefully that will reduce the fluids.  Will talk to doctor tomorrow and see what the next steps are...until then, just hope the antibiotic (Invance, aka ertapenem) works to keep the bacterial infection at bay.  Sorry to miss everyone, but I plan on being there for the 45th.

Stu

I am very sadened to hear of Andy Guadin's Passing, Truly a great man who always valued friendships. My locker was next to hiis and we often spoke about ski trips to Colorado and we both liked Coors beer and I brought him a six pack and both his parents and mine were okay with it. Rest in peace Andy and know that we will miss you.

Sincerely,

Paul Ferszt
