It is with the most profound sadness that I report that Mary Ann, my best friend and wife passed unexpectedly last night.  After 62 years of being my strength and inspiration she has gone home to our Lord.  I know that she touched and impacted many lives over the years through her teaching, tireless work with Women in Aviation International, Scouting and many civic organizations encouraging and mentoring young people.  Please keep our family in your prayers  She will be missed.

Did you ever eat at Parkview.  Back in the day it was one big room with a huge bar, they added a room with a lot of  windows on the South.  It caught fire and burned to the ground so they built a new building.  The food is really good but the little hole in the wall bar is gone, it's a very impressive building that sits there now.

Did you ever wonder what it looked like before they made Lake Bloomington, of course you did.  I found this picture taken in 1929 and the "A" one is the spillway and the "B" one is the pumphouse.  I know the City purchased all that land and you didn't buy the property, you got a Leasehold  from the City if you wanted to build a Cabin.  Today there are very expensive homes around the lake, the day of the "little cabin" is gone.

I worked a couple of summers at the FunFair in Miller Park. We started to open the rides about 10 am and closed them about 10 pm. Owners/foreman would order burgers, fries, and sodas from the Park View Inn for our lunch about 2 pm and again about 6 or so. Seven days a week all summer long. We started  on weekends in April then on to whole weeks in late May. Down to weekends in September and closed for the winter sometimes in Ocober. Bck to the first question...do I remember the Park View Inn, Oh Boy do I!.

Two stores from the past, Merle Pharmacy which was located on the corner of Main and Monroe.

Remember Andersons?  The first store I remember was on S. Main by a Bank whose name escapes me, maybe McLean  Couny Bank which sat next to The National Bank.  When the National Bank was razed, Andersons moved down on Main Street in the block where Washburn Flowers was.
