Remember the three wheel motorcycles the Bloomington Police had?

How about the Sinorak where we had lunch on Senior Skip Day.

I remember the three-wheelers. That's the rebuilt Sinorak after the March 1963 fire. Got and photos from before that?

Larry I found this picture with some information about the Sinorak.  Love the prices for the meals!

Barb, We need to keep in mind when we look at old prices that our old incomes were vastly lower than now. I remember when my father threw a fit when milk went from 35 cents a gallon to 50 cents at the Little Boss Dairy. If we had our spending power with those prices that would be fun!

Have you ever wondered what was on the space State Farm was erected on, well look below!

This is  Tilden Hall  which was razed so Peoples Bank  could have a parking lot with maybe 15 spaces in it.  Such a waste of a grand building. I read up and it was designed for 23 parking spaces there.

I believe Mike and Tom Hardy's father was a barber at the Tilden Hall lobby barber shop. Delivered a lot of papers there and got my hair cut there often.

On the corner to the north from where the camer is taking the photo was the Blue Bird cafe owned by Pete Karonis who went on to own the Serve Rite Steak  HOuse on Front and ht Kountry Kitchen south of town where 66 and Main crossed. That bcame th Sinorak that we all know and love so well.

Federal Cafe was (is?) on West Front Street, a block south of Washington St. and half a block to the west

Sinorak: My Dad, J.W. "Bill" Scott, held a fundraiser at the Sinorak for his political campaign, $5.00 per person, all you could eat. He was a state representative in Springfield. My Dad was a great friend of Pete Karonis and we ate there many times. The football team 🏈 ate there alot because of all you could eat. The fundraiser was held on July 20, my sister, Janenne's birthday.🎂 The best tapioca pudding in town! Janice "Scott" and Jerry Vitton.🌞

Since Sonja was the only person who had an answer for one of my questions, she was absolutely right. This was the block between Main and Center and it did have the Federal Cafe there.  It has moved and is now Shannon's where we meet for Breakfast once a month and is located on Veterans Parkway and Mercer.  The second picture was on Monroe Street across from the old Police Station, between East and Main Street.  The Steak n Shake had maybe eight   stools and one or two tables, very small.  There was another Steak n Shake exactly like this on South Main Street and it was located by a Liquor Store if I remember right and it was in the block right before the viaduct.

Janice, I agree with you, The Sinorak had the best tapioca!  And they also had large, delicious sea scallops.  My family really enjoyed going there, so many choices and good food.  Sinorak was Karonis (owner's name) spelled backwards.  Best,  Cork

Barbara & Janice, I am a "guest" for your site, etc...All the talk about Pete Karonis reminded me of a personal

involvement with him. Fred Prillaman and I had an interview with him applying for a Life Guard job at Miller Park

He was a very stern man but fair we felt. As it turned out Fred got the job and I did not. However, he said he could use me on another job at the Park. Believe it or not, it was running the Feris Wheel and other rides!

He felt I was not big enough to be a life guard, I held my pride and took the job. It all paid off because another

fellow quit the job, and Pete was in a bind and begged me to take the position. Also, Fred and I saved a couple

of kids that summer, and Pete was thrilled with our work. Thanks for allowing me to add my two cents.

Saw this on Facebook and I can kind of relate to it!

Today I was in a shoe store that sells only shoes, nothing else. A young girl with a tattoo and green hair walked over to me and asked, "What brings you in today, I looked at her and said, "I'm interested in buying a refrigerator." She didn't quite know how to respond, had that deer in the headlights look.
I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.
When people see a cat's litter box they always say, "Oh, have you got a cat" I just say, "No, it's for company!"
Employment application blanks always ask who is to be called in case of an emergency. I think you should write, "An ambulance."
The older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.
The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.
Have you ever noticed: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL.
The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he knows when he's really in trouble.
Did you ever notice that when you put the 2 words "The" and "IRS" together it spells "Theirs"
Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me.
I want people to know why I look this way.
I've traveled a long way and a lot of the roads were not paved.
Ah! Being young is beautiful but being old is comfortable.
Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.
May you always have:
Love to share,
Cash to spare,
Tires with air,
And friends who care.

This is a picture of North Main Street  looking South, I can't believe all of the businesses that were along there, makes me wish we had our "old" Bloomington back.

Novak Flowers  was also located on North Main and always had the neatest window displays.

Do you remember the Food Circus which was located on South Main Street?  I think I was in there one time, it was kind of out of the way for our shopping.

Apparently it had a Drive-Up window!
