BLOOMINGTON — June E. Beck Stoutamoyer, 94, LeRoy, formerly of Bloomington, died at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday (May 15, 2013) at LeRoy Manor, LeRoy.
Her funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Keith Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Township Cemetery, Lexington. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the memorial home. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
June was born June 20, 1918, in Lexington, the daughter of William F. and Ruby Jane Allison Beck. She married Walter B. Stoutamoyer.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary June (Ron) Purkey, Bloomington, and Judy Ann (Vernon) DuPree, Chesterfield, Mo.; one brother, Farrell (Doris) Beck, Colfax; two grandchildren, Matthew Purkey and Lindsey (Kyle) Fuller; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Henley Fuller; stepgrandchildren, Chuck, Debra, Nicole, David and Michael; stepgreat-grandchildren, Alexis, Michelle, Daniel, Taylor; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale Beck.
June graduated from Lexington High School in the Class of 1936 and was the salutatorian. She retired from Country Companies in 1984 after serving 24 years. June was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington.
She received her student pilot’s license in 1958 and flew a Cessna 150. June traveled in the United States, Spain and Africa. She accomplished the art of scherenschnitte, which is paper cutting. She was a collector of antique dolls and bears. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, ceramics and other crafts. She belonged to a Canasta card club for many years.
June was always friendly and considerate of others. She enjoyed being with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at LeRoy Manor for their care and compassion shown to “June Bug” during her stay. She was loved by all who knew her and will be forever remembered and forever missed.
