I think the Class of 62 should thank Milan for all the hard work he puts into this web  site.  He spends a lot of time and thought into putting interesting pictures in the Message Forum which I really enjoy and keeping track of all the Birthdays.  Thanks Milan for a job well done.

As a member of the "Great Class of 1962" I want to also say thanks Milan for creating and keeping this forum going. Although I have not lived in Bloomington for over 50 years now its great keeping up with whats going on. I also enjoy the old photos as they bring back many memories. I wonder if anyone remembers Phone A Feast restaurant. I used to work there delivering chicken dinners, catfish dinners and steak dinners. For $1.50 you got 4 pieces of chicken, cole slaw, french fries or potato salad and french bread. And it was delivered hot to your door. $2.00 for a T-bone steak.

I also would like to thank Milan for the great website-it's really fun to keep up on our classmates.  I had forgotten about "phone a feast", but remember ordering from there many times.  Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a blessed 2015.

Loved Zesto. My mother always enjoyed taking a cooling ride in the summer and stopping at Zesto. I think it was right next to Hubbards Cupboard.

I always thought it was so neat the way they swirled the cone, of course when your a kid, stuff like that leaves an impression.  I used to love to sit at the counter at Steak n Shake and watch them fry hamburgers.  It seemed like an art to me to be able to get them so flat,  I'm still fascinated by it.  I remember Phone a Feast having really good chicken and when it was delivered on the paper plate another paper plate was the lid and was stapled to the bottom one.  Ah, the good old days!

Phone-a-Feast steak was a favorits for delivery with us. Zesto was just a block from our house when we lived on Walnut. Pete and Johnny Hostetler and Corky Snearly were between us and the Zesto. We could get a cone for a nickle so we'd take a dime and get one then another. That way they didn't melt too fast.

Hey Barb I was the one that stapled those plates together. I still like to sit at the counter at the Steak N Shakes we have here DFW.

I use to be a fry cook at the Steak n Shake on Main St in Normal. We got the burgers in a "sphere" of raw meat. Then, I'd use a spatula and large fork to flatten them. We also put the buns on the grill to give them a light toasting. Those, I just swept of the grill by hand. Didn't really feel too hot, but after awhile I noticed my fingerprints were being burned away. That was temporary of course. What the customers did not see was all the little green bugs that also ended up on the grill during swarming season. It was OK--I always managed to push them off with the spatula. By the way, that is where I met my wife, Kay. This coming summer we'll be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.

I liked the root beer freezes at Zesto when Marian Tate served them.  Today, I helped our village set up the tables and decorations for our 7 course dinner and dance to 3am for New Year's Eve. It will probably be similar to this YouTube Video of the 2012 celebration.

Does anyone remember Sandy' hamburgers?  I think it was on Empire St. and close to BHS.  They had $ .15 burgers, and the best fries in town.
