Nancy Wheeler (Lanier)

Hi everyone, we are very pleased with your timely response  to our 50th. To those of you who have signed up on this website saying that you are attending but haven't sent your money in yet, that's great but we need your money soon. I need to make arrangements for the food and I need to know how many will be attending with you.

Ron:  We are planning on finger food but we need to know totals before we decide exactly what the menu will be.

John: Golf is a good idea. You might be right about Friday being a good day. THIS decision we need input on. THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE INTERESTED IN GOLF PLEASE LET US KNOW SO WE CAN ARRANGE IT. Also, which day is better for you. We will go with the majority.

I'm not sure why you didn't get a copy of our group picture at Lakeside. If anyone has a copy of this picture please let me know and I will try to get you one. I will look for mine. We've moved twice since it was taken and I'd forgotten it existed until you mentioned it.

Also, a weenie roast sounds fun. I don't know about a hayrack ride on Sunday......This is something that someone else needs to arrange. I don't know anyone with a hayrack. We could just get together and roast hot dogs and have S'mores. After all it's just the idea of getting together. This is something John Ed and I might be able to host. Or we could have a cookout in the afternoon. Again, I NEED EVERYONE'S IMPUT!!

DONNA: As far as mailing out flyers again, we don't have money for another mailing. Everyone needs to communicate their wishes on this website or call me 309-287-8294 or 309-662-4668.

Your offer to make booklets is most generous of you. We need to know an approximate cost for these.

Keep your ideas coming. You have some good ones.

I think I've covered everything for now. I'm sorry that I've been so pokey responding.....I really don't have a good excuse!

HUGS TO YOU ALL.......NANCY

KEEP THE IMPUT COMING!!!!!!!

REMEMBER TO KEEP DONNIE ANDREWS IN YOUR PRAYERS.

Was just communicating with Nancy Lanier about coming to the reunion (she has been badgering me almost

constantly) so I agreed (don't anyone tell her I was going to show up anyway), and anyhow she began

casting doubts about my sanity - actually called me crazy - now isn't that something, over an item as small

as a bottle of Jameson. I do have some old photos of some/all of us somewhere and I'll start looking to see if

they're "locateable" prior to driving to BTown. I don't know who is going to take responsibility for the Jameson -

I suppose I'll have to do that myself. So, Nancy, - - - the check is (almost) in the mail. See you all soon!!     JF

Nancy Wheeler (Lanier)

Jack, I don't know what Jameson is.....I'm assuming it's whiskey. "Crazy is as crazy does." Just because you fooled people for years (your "grown up years"), I've known you toooo long and toooo well. You never could have handled your paper route if it weren't for me!! Now I'm trying to get Diane/Diana to come. Try to use your influence to get her here!! I told her about this website but she hasn't signed up yet. Work on that too.

Today John Ed and I had a wonderful visit with Donnie and Lynn Ann. Donnie is progressing well. His trach is removed and he's talking better. In 2/3 weeks he is starting chemo and radiation. He's as witty as ever...

Lynn Ann: What did you do yesterday?

Donnie: nothing

Lynn Ann: what are you doing today?

Donnie: Nothing. I didn't finish it yesterday!

If you want to talk to Donnie, please email him at: ezmotion1@aol.com

Donnie would love to hear from you!!

Please don't phone him.

Please keep Donnie in your prayers.

OK I think between Nancy and me we might have this right.

Donnie's e-mail is ezmotion1@aol.com.

Again please don't call.  Do e-mail as Donnie would love to hear from everyone.  Tell the ones that aren't on this site to do the same.

P.S.  I edited this, Joe.  N

Check the address if you click on the email link that Joe posted. It might show Donnie's e-mail as  eamotion instead of ezmotion!

Hi everyone, I'm sorry some of you didn't find my last update. If you scroll down on this page, you should see it. Just in case it isn't there, I'm going to repost an update.

John Ed and I visited with Donnie and LynnAnn last Sunday. He looked great considering he was just three weeks out of a twelve hour surgery! (But isn't great how we all expect "the Fonz" to look?) Donnie is weak but he's getting stronger everyday. He had part of his femur bone removed to rebuild his jaw bone and a patch of skin removed on his thigh to rebuild his tongue. He developed an infection in his leg where the bone was removed and that's causing him pain. This isn't keeping him down. He's walking around with assistance.  At this point he is having problems talking, so please don't call him.

As you can imagine he's bored! He would love to hear from everyone via e-mail!! You can contact him at ezmotion1@AOL.com

Donnie would love to attend our 50th but he's starting chemo and radiation soon. He has attended every reunion since we graduated.

I'm so happy that we were able to get together with them and look forward to seeing them again in January if not before.

Please keep praying for "Our Fonz".

Hello All,

Was so glad to hear that Donnie is doing better and I will definitely send him an email. Donna, I would like to have a booklet for our 50th and would donate money for the cause if needed. Nancy and Joe have done a great job in organizing the reunion. It takes alot of time and effort and we really appreciate it. I am hoping to see some of you at Cafe Italia at noon on Sat Oct 13th. Am looking forward to seeing everyone at Lakeside.

    Keep up the good work.

Hi Everyone.

Today we met with Kelly at Lakeside. We decided on a BUFFET. I think you will be pleased with the food choices. The room is going to be great for mingling and weather permitting we can use the patio. I'm working on getting a large surface for posting pictures. I'm suggesting that you scan your pictures in case they get misplaced.

FRIDAY NIGHT: After the game we will meet at YANKEE DOODLE around

                                              10:00-10:30.

Some classmates are stopping in CCHS first.

CAFE ITALIA:  Lunch will be at 12:30. Please let me know if you are planning to

attend. I need to give them a count.

LAKESIDE:      We can gather at Lakeside directly after 4:30 Mass. (Around 5:45)

GOLF: Anyone interested in Golf needs to let us know NOW! That is, if you want a tee time.

MONEY!!!!!!!!!  PLEASE, PLEASE!!!

Send in your money NOW!! I know, I know...Joe and I haven't paid yet either..

Steve Whelan (THS class 1961) requested information about Sister Manuela from Sinsinawa. These are her memoirs. He graciously passed it on to me. I thought everyone would enjoy reading it. It was a bear moving it into our site. There are 5 parts so keep scrolling down.

Thanks, Steve.

I'm sure we all have Sister Manuela stories. Sister Manuela found two jobs for me. During the summer between  freshman and sophomore year (I think. Betsy correct this if I'm wrong) SM called my mom with job #1. Betsy Weaver, Judy Ried, my sister Gloria and I were to work at the Boy Scout camp washing dishes! We had a ball that summer! Harmonizing as we scrubbed away..... Job #2 Junior year she said I was hired to be the "hostess" at People's Bank. I passed out donuts and coffee in the lobby on Fridays. (except when we had "away" games.) Because of that job, People's Bank hired me full time. Yes, Sister Manuela definitely helped to form my life.

Mary Beth Weaver (Harwood)

I just read Sr. Manuella's memoirs and want to relate a conversation I had with her while I was sequestered at the nunnery in Sinsinawa.  This was in about l963 or 64, so she was at the girl's school in Chicago that she so loved. I walked into the recreation room and there she was with about six or seven high school girls who had come there with her.  I think the nuns took those girls to Sinsinawa to try to get them interested in the religious vocations.  Anyway, she was laughing and being silly with those girls.  I   approached her and she said:  "You're really surprised to see me acting this way, aren't you?"  I said I was and she told me that when she was posted to Trinity High School in Bloomington, Illinois, she was horrified.  I'm sure you have all heard by now that our high school had a reputation for being a hardship post because we were such a "bad" bunch.  So she decided she would have to adopt the personna of an experienced Chicago street tough and that's what she did. She said:  "That wasn't the real me."

I also heard that same "bad" refrain from one of the other nuns (that young one that taught us English whose name I can't remember).  I've thought about that a lot.  Why was Trinity so bad?  Or were we really?  Was it just because we were a coed school and the nuns were used to all-girl academies?   But Aldy and I have talked about this as far as his school is concerned too.  His fifth grade was so bad that the school district found a man teacher to take over the sixth grade, and this teacher lined up all the boys on the playground and frisked them for switchblades.  And yes, many were found!  Sometimes I think we were just playing at being "bad."  Would anybody have seriously USED one of those switchblades.

So, dear classmates, I hate hate hate missing this reunion.  I fiddled around until the tickets got way too expensive.  I'll keep looking and maybe some miracle will occur and some tickets will be reduced at the last minute.
