An article on 2009 JFK HALL OF Fame inductees for their OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN VISUAL AND MUSIC:

LISA KEITH BERNARD (CARLSON) and
JAMES BONTRAGER who taught 1965 - 1996!

CONGRATS!!

Wish I knew ahead, would of been nice to be there.

Hi Dona,

It was a great, fun night at Kennedy! I wish you could have been there too. It was nice to see Mr.B.( Bontrager) get a well deserved award. And we were completely amazed at "Rhythm in Gold"( the current J.B. Singers). They have a lot of intricate choreography, and many costume changes. Take your kids(or grandkids) to see their Spring concert, they'll love it.

Take care, Lisa (Carlson)Bernard

Never miss the chance to tell the ones you love how you feel for tomorrow may not come. I learned this many years ago when I lost a friend to a sleeping 18 wheeler driver.

Now, my best friend lost one of the most precious things in life, a daughter. No warning, no good-bye.

My friends heart is broken and numb and there is little I can do but be there for her.

Always seize the day and do NOT put things off.

In memory of Amanda.

Boy have I been out of it! The last time I checked this page was over a month ago. Since that time, my daughter got engaged and is planning a wedding in 2 1/2 months, I have been on two vacations (Branson, MO and BWCAW - Lake Adams), and my son was in a serious auto crash but was able to walk away. A lady T-boned him after running a red light. Hit him at about 30 mph and flipped his car upside down. My son is 6' 7" tall and DIDN'T HIT HIS HEAD! The roof caved in and stopped just before his head area. How's that for a miracle? No broken bones, only bruised ribs and damaged muscles. If you don't pray regularly for your loved ones and their protection, ability to make wise choices, etc., I encourage you to start. Oh, did I mention that I also have a routine unemployment audit this Thursday! Life is full and I'm glad I have a life!

Carol . . . thank goodness your son came out OK. By the way, what kind of car was he driving? It sounds very well built to take that kind of impact and keep its occupants safe! Any luck on the 50th birthday bash planning?

Someone has to do it... ;-)

Like them or not, guys were mesmerized by Farrah and girls imitated her hair...and we grew up listening to Michael Jackson on WDGY or KDWB. True or not true?

ABC...it's easy as 1,2,3...

Yeah, what a bummer . . . Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon and David Carradine - major 70's icons departed in the month of June.

Now today. Fred Travelena, Billy Mays, and Gale Storm........Not the household names mentioned by Adam, but when it rains, it pours

Betty M. Pate (Jorgenson)

I heard about Billy Mays and Gale Storm but not Fred Travalena!

How sad about Billy Mays, Life can be so bizarre sometimes! How weird is it that Billy Mays is dead, but the Sham-Wow guy is alive and well. Oh well someone needs to keep the hookers in check! Have fun everyday!

WOW!
I was out of town for a week, no cable(no TV) no papers, not much for radio -- I come back and OMG, so many great lives lost! Most unexpected! It is usually in 3's, and we are on our 3rd set of threes. Not good. I was shocked at Michael Jackson, then last night heard of Billy Mays. Scary, both OUR age! We have lost roughly 128 celebrities so far this year to include Dom De Luise, Bea Arthur, Billy Powell (Lynyrd Skynyrds Freebird) Dan Seals. Seems like we are loosing a full era. I feel sad each time we loose a legend to age, car accident, plane crash (2 on 1 this yr), skiing accident. :(

Gives us all more reason to take each day as a blessing and tell those we love and care for before it is too late!

Carol, I know the T-bone effect. I got it on 86th & Portland Sept 17th 2007. Had my grand kids in the back seat when a gal going North on Portland ran the red doing +/- 60MPH nailed my door so I was the only one hurt. Thank-God. I know I had angles there that day. (my F150 was totaled).

Adam,
Per the 50th BD, we still need a LOCATION. We have sent out feelers, but nothing solid. That is the main thing is a location, from there, Carol and I can run with it.

Steven M. Everaert

Regarding the 50th BD location. How about the Firemans tourney 2010? Venue and food already in place, 3.2 beer(thats safe), No clean up! Then off to the Eagle's club/lodge after! I think those kids from '79 might be on to something.

Just throwing out an idea.

How about a St. Paul Saints game?
3 hours of tailgating prior to the game, Group ticket discount, and an announcement to let everyone know that the BEST high school class EVER is in attendance.(THAT'S something everybody there could tell their grandchildren........What a thrill!!)Then after the game who knows??

At least Evvy and I are trying.

Any other ideas out there????

Steve - John

GREAT Ideas!!!!

That is just the input we needed!!

Not a lot of money and great locations!

THANKS!

Steven M. Everaert

Thanks Dona, either those two ideas or we could all meet in Costa Rica, or maybe an Alaskan cruise, that might be fun. They must have group rates? I'm up for anything.

07/01/09 11:10 AM #889

John A. Gorski

Steve,
I hear the mosquitoes and humidity are a little inconveniant in Costa Rica that time of the year, So I'm thinking the Alaskan Cruise route may be easier to deal with. I see Doug Vodnick lives in Alaska. Maybe he knows a guy that knows a guy who can get us a good rate.

Backup plan?? Maybe Mammoth Mountain??

07/01/09 11:49 AM #890

Steven M. Everaert

Hi John,
Good idea with the Mammoth thing, however, keep in mind, it is a volcano, so you never know if it will still be there next summer. I will check to to see if they give out falling ash/lava checks. Meanwhile, all that is to far in the future. I am more concerned with just spending this Saturday in the park, maybe having a laugh and some ice cream while singing Italian songs. Perhaps I should fly to Chicago. I think Jet Blue has a Long Beach to Midway flight.
