Al & Alma's on Lake Mtka had yahts that go out, I used to work with off premise catering firms and go out on dinner evening excursions. John, remember the Star Tribune picnics?

Regarding the 50th birthday bash . . . why settle with just one evening? Many of us probably have busy schedules and might not make a single event. But if we have different events on three or so consecutive days, then folks will have a better chance of attending one of them. Those who have really flexible schedules can attend all of them.

So, how about a Twins game and tailgate party for one evening, a paddle boat dinner party on another day, and something else for the last day?

Just a suggestion . . .

Kathy, I'm drawing a total blank on the picnics (must be getting old, I guess).

Adam, What a novel idea. Whatever we end up doing, it should be a blast. Maybe your place for a spam BBQ?

Adam Fka Kim Lee

Spam BBQ sounds great! And the tourism economy here in Hawaii is really hurting, so the hotels here would love to have us.

Hey Adam,

Pizzaburgers should be a huge hit in Hawaii since spam (and hamburger)is the main ingredient and Hawaiians eat more spam per capita than any other state.
Personally, I grew up on it and still crave a fried (or raw) spam sandwich every now and again.

I love the Paddleboat Idea! I have have been reminiscing about sitting in, playing the spoons with the ragtime band in the paddlewheel lounge aboard the Mississippi Queen since I read that.

John, bring your Baritone and a Banjo player, I'll bring the spoons and we won't need a Reggae band.

Anyone know a good Calliope player?

Just a reminder everybody

Fireman's tournament starts a week from tonight at Valley View Fields.
Those of us who have been there need no explanation.
Those of you who have not, It's like a mini reunion. Great time.

See you all there

There is a plan to go to the Eagles club once the beer tent closes down.

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

I heard from Rene Knafla today and she is coming into town on Sunday for a month, so we are planning on going to the fireman's on Friday.

Twins game, paddleboat, Al and Alma's all sound like a plan to me.

Adam, I will be in Hawaii with my husband next Feb or March to celebrate my 50th. Never been there, can't wait!

See everyone at the fireman's!!

So I take it the beer tent is where everyone meets and hangs out at the Firemans?

Adam Fka Kim Lee

Sue P, what a wonderful way to celebrate the big 50! The Hawaii Tourism industry thanks you and your husband! : ) Give me a call when you get here and we'll get together for a celebratory drink.

Speaking of beer, 50 and the Fireman's...would the 50th bash be best held that weekend in 2010????

Hey John and all!
I do know a guy that knows a guy but he doesn't know much! I'd fly down to take the Alaskan cruise with you all since I've never done it myself. We (Alaska) lost our SPAM crown to Hawaii some years back and we're now #2. Go Hawaii! However we are the #1 consumer of ice cream per capita! What kind of sense does that make? Doesn't matter where the 50 is as long as there is warm weather and cold beer! Hmm, wonder what state is #1 in beer?

Hi Doug,

I'll go out on a limb and say...........Wisconsin??

Dona M. Trabant (Inman)

Great to see all of you on Friday!
Glad the weather held out for us. I just can't believe how packed the Eagles became.

Next party at Garland's or Gorski's???

Hi Gang, (said like Steve Cannon)

Fireman's was great (as usual) I always feel fortunate to be able to see such good friends and catch up from time to time.

It was great to see all of you

My wife and I just got back from staying at the lodge of Brad Schmidt and his wife Kathy. It was a tremendous trip, check out Brad's profile for the website and make a reservation!!! You will not be sorry. I think even Adam should think about it. ;-)

So far the ideas not listed on this forum include: golf outing in the morning, motorcycle run in the late morning/afternoon and picnic in the eveing. I've done the paddleboat and it is great. The boats hold a lot of people and it is a great way to mingle. It would be good to do something that we could talk and catch up with everyone.

Just read some of the last posts I missed. My son was in a Saturn station wagon. He is 6'7" tall and didn't hit his head. Quite the miracle. the roof caved in just before his head area. He is back to work now with no restrictions.

Now I am facing wedding plans for my daughter's wedding in mid Sept. after that, I should be good to go.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas on the birthday bash. I think everyone wants to see each other and hang out. It doesn't matter what we do. My thoughts (as mentioned earlier from previous responses) were possible coming to Lakeville. We have several great golf courses here. It is a great place to start a motorcycle run, and the parks are many and big. We could do a Twins or Saints game on the previous day and make a weekend from it. What do you think?

07/26/09 12:13 AM #943

Marilyn L. Gould (VanOsdel)

I'm so glad so many people are getting together and having good times. I'd love to be able to come back for the 50th birthday weekend. All the ideas sound great!

New Minnesota Twins Stadium???? Boy, living in Washington state, that's news to me. Just curious, what's wrong with the one they built in Minneapolis since we graduated? Is it already too old?

It's the outside stadium thing, dome free.
