I think it is so funny & cool to be able to look at pictures, and say "Oh Yeah, I remember that person! Our class was so big, there are just so many people to remember. There were so many people that we knew, and so many that we never had the chance to know because of common interests, classes, etc. Those of us that went from Oak Grove had a big disadvantage; there were so few of us mixed in with the Portland crowd. It was quite intimidating, and I look back and think, Gosh, wish I would have enjoyed myself more than I did. I was so nervous with the new group of people, especially all those times when Mike & I would meet the group at Lake Nokomis. I was uncomfortable at first with all those new faces, people that were comfortable with each other, since you had spent all your middle school years together. Then with the vastly different group of friends that Steve had known for years, wow a lot of new alliances! You are all such great people, I wish I had taken more opportunites to branch out in friendships! Those years at JFK were truely unforgettable memories!

Brett - It was Dorrie Carrier (not sure if I spelled that right).

Brett & Sue - I still have a Boston Grand Illusion album, unopened! I also have the Bee Gees, althouth I'm not so proud of that one!

Cindy - Nothing went on down at the blower I swear you missed nothing over at Portland!

You are all crazy :) It's been so much fun reading about everyone! I'm quite thankful Nick is still with us after being in the "In Memory" area too!

I remembered Dorrie for sure but am not sure who the "king" was. Maybe it was Elvis.

I beleive you mean Styx - Grand Illusion and although I didn't like the Bee Gees back then I appreciate them now. Did I just admit that?

Sue, I am afraid I am not near the purist that your husband is although I still bet we could spend a couple of hours talking about it. I do have a tube amp that I use all the time and I do still listen to vinyl now and again. The Portland and Kennedy Bands didn't release our music on CD back then, just vinyl. Music is always playing in multiple rooms in our house and garage and back yard when we are home.

This has been and is a real blast from the past. We leave for MN Tuesday and after that I probably won't get to read or write as my mom doesn't have the internet.

OK, Is it just me or did we grow up with some of the best music ever?? and look at how many of the bands you have mentioned are still around and making music today!!
By some miracle, I was able to hold on to the VAST majority of my ticket stubs. I'm almost apologetic to have been able to see bands like The Who, CSNY, The Eagles, and so many others for under $10.00 and felt I was getting "ripped off" to have to pay $15.00 to see The Kinks.

Best deal ever??
Bret, Tony Nehotte and I decided the day of the concert to go see Jackson Browne at the Civic Center, and when we got there, we were standing in line and ordered 3 tickets. That's when the guy behind us says "Are you going to tonight's show, because I'm with Electra Asylum records and I'm turning in 4 tickets. Great tickets, $7.50 seats. I'll sell all 4 for $15.00"
Then all 3 of us in our infinite teenage wisdom thought, "What are we gonna do with 4 tickets??".
We decided to take the kind gentleman up un his offer and proceeded to sell the 4th ticket to some stoner for face value, so if my Kennedy high school math skills are still working, we paid $2.50 per ticket, had unbelievable seats "spitting distance from the stage", met up with the previously mentioned red-eyed gentleman and he even let us smoke some of his "cigarettes" as sort of a thank you for the nice seats.........They tasted kinda funny though. Must've been Merits or Chesterfields or something.

I think we also polished off a bag af Sliders afterward as well

Crazy, crazy school dayz

Does anyone know what happened to Leo Reuder? Just curious, and nothing was updated in the In Memory
Thanks,Shelly

Thomas L. Pederson

Leo passed away due to kidney cancer in the early 90's - '92 or '93 I believe. It all happened pretty suddenly as I recall.

Jeffrey S. Richards

Tom, you are correct about Leo, what a great guy he was.

Sue Orrie, I did once see Peggy Leach in Eden Prairie at a grocery store but that was 10 to 15 years ago.

Sue, I remember that concert very well at the Met Center, if you remember It Rained. And a lot of us took cover UNDER the infield Tarp...

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

Oh yeah I remember that! I remember alot of keg parties too in a big field that is no longer there but by the airport. Across from Northwest hangar on the south side.

Jeffrey S. Richards

What about NANDO's, lots of parties there...

08/11/08 04:49 PM #83

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

NANDO'S??

That was the area that was taken over by the cedar bridge. Years ago it use to be a bar I think prior to being torn down and it was a great place where the bloomington police couldn't get to for a while. You could access the path off old shakopee road.

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

Now I remember!! Yeah but remember if the cops ever pulled you over and you had beer they would make you pour it out which at that time was the worse thing ever because it took all night to find someone to buy it.

That wasn't the case with me, I was caught by that great big Bloomington Cop, I think his name was Carlson.. he was huge. Took us in and called our parents and it just happended to be their anniversay. I have been known to give unusual anniversary gifts, this was probably the best one don't you think?

Lori A. Tuchscherer (Broadhead)

I remember going to Nando's with you, Jeff Richards, and when the cops came you took off running without me! Someone did manage to get the tap off the keg, though!

Lori A. Tuchscherer (Broadhead)

I remember being in a car with Nancy Gabriel and two guys (who will remain nameless) and we had to dump an entire case of Pfeiffer, opening one bottle at a time.

Ouch! Well Lori, thanks for the repressed memory. I think back then it was everyone for themselves but honestly if it happened today I would have stayed. All I have are the good memories of when we hung out.

Lori A. Tuchscherer (Broadhead)

That's ok Jeff - you were forgiven a long time ago. And my memories are good, too, but I couldn't pass up the chance to give you a bit of crap, now could I?

I am betting there are several of us who pray our kids never see this Message Forum! I know my daughters' images of their perfect mother would be blown.

My 2 boys are always asking what I was like in High School and I always plead the 5th. When they hear something from my mom I tell them I cannot comfirm nor deny that alligation and it has worked so far. Although my wife tells me my youngest son is just like me and I have to agree for the most part.

To those who were wondering who the 'King' was @ Portland. Queen was Dorrie Carriere & the King was Mike McArdle. Geez, you'd think you guys were nearing fifty or something.....:-)

I agree with you guys, we had THE BEST music. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Boston, Steve Miller Band, Aerosmith & the list goes on....

It's been fun reading everyone's stories.

Thanks for the scripture Mark Chapman - and yes a big AMEN! Funny how things turn out isn't it?

Hey, Brett, Sue and Mark - Don't know who all you guys are but my husband collects vinyl albums off of Ebay. We have hundreds of albums many unopened. It is insane. Also here in Orlando we have 'Classic Albums Live' - been to Abby Road, Led Zepplin and next month is Boston. It is a blast.

Sandy, hey, girl! Did you get my most recent email? How are you? Speaking of concerts- How was that Foghat concert?
The one I couldn't go to because my parents grounded me.

And any scripture is welcome here...a big Amen.
