Oh yes, REO Speedwagon was another show I caught back then. Was anyone else at the old Met Stadium for the Beach Boys, Tower of Power and Boz Skaggs? What a weird combo that was in one show. I was a vendor and sold popcorn at that concert.
Foghat was great. Of course the finale song was a long version of Slow Ride.
Kathryn, I remember Peter from a year he went to Riverside elementary.

Finally, a Led Zepp mention! I will go to my grave telling my kids that they were the greatest rock-n-roll band of all time....and I don't think it is that close. I might listen to a Who argument, but Zepp is the bomb.
Any thoughts?

Pete - I thought for sure you would say something about our friend Mike being the home coming Queen, I mean King in both junior high and high school. I didn't even know (remember) there was royalty at the junior high level.

As the football captain, YOU should be the one to point out he quit football back in the days when football players were ineligible for royalty.....funny, he ended up king. Boelter, don't you have some Donna Summer or something to listen to?

Can I hear a shout out for the Cars? Not as the greatest ever, but certainly music that made cruising around in the car better. Bjerke, I remember listening to a little "You might think" in your Scirocco..

Donna Summer?? Did we graduate with her? You know me and music!

I'd have to say that Zeppelin was one of my all time favorites. That was the first concert I ever went to. I was 13 and went with a friend, my older sister and a friend of hers. I will never forget it!

Jeff, I remember Nando's. I never saw you there. Wrong night I guess. Who were you there with?

I know Wade, I just had to get my disco shot in.

Tom, I love the Cars, but I think their original album came out about the summer of `78.

Other blasts from the past: Doobie Brothers, Three Dog Night, Alice Cooper(to this day reminds me of Amato singing in the halls),Deep Purple, Chicago, Aerosmith(when they were good), Ten Years After, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Steve Miller, Bob Seger, Bruce Springstein and yes, even the rock-n-roller will give it up for Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, and the Commodores.

I loved the bands with horns..... seems like a lost art these days.

Is it just me, or should the next reunion be held at Stugis? I'm going to feel a little inadaquate on my thirty year old Motobecane moped I got fired up this summer after 12 idle years!

Any memories of the senior all night party? I remember the casino in the gym, and the other things (handwriting analyst, fortune teller, etc) in the auditorium.

Oh, and sitting in the lunchroom at about 7am when they were drawing raffle prizes. All I wanted to do was go home and get in bed. Little did I know (or think) that I wouldn't see most of the people in that lunchroom for years, if at all.

Susan, I mostly went with Aubrey and Lori to Nando's.

Kathryn A Varani (Merrifield)

Hey, Mark Chapman, So you remember Peter Merrifield? Do I have bragging rights to say that he was the Homecoming King at Lincoln?

He really is a nice guy. Disabled American Veteran now.

Michelle Franz (Lisser)

That senior party was great. I still wonder, was the decorating as super as I remember, or was it just that I had different expectations back then? Wasnt the gym decorated like the big ship from ET? I thought that was amazing, or maybe my memories are just warped.

And Pete, I hate to admit, I loaded many of those songs on my MP3 Player! They were pretty good songs! HEART still being a favorite band of mine. I use to hope Mike would play their songs in his band. I am laughing now, thinking about his white satin outfit, kind of like "The King" when he was in the group with Spencer? Who else was in that group? Some of those memories have gaps for me! I had no idea he was king at Portland too! Wow, Mike still surprising us years later!

Wade, thanks for putting up with me all those years! You were a great guy then, and I am sure now too! ( Gosh, I mean, Natalie married you! :) ) Sorry again about the "present" Jen Lerud and I left in your car, or I should say your parents car.....never thought of the ramifications of you getting in trouble!

Thanks for the info on Leo Reuder, bummer. I just remember him from all those years, Riverside, Oak Grove ( didnt he even go to Oak Grove EL for one year too, like many of us did?) Then JFK. He was one of those all time nice guys, right from a kid in Elementary school.

Another person that was around since those way back days, Dave Griffith. Does anyone remember way back then? Mark Chapman, werent you part of all those Riverside, to Oak Grove Jr, and then JFK years?

Mike, Spencer, Tim Curtis and Lisa Carlson come to mind...But I don't recall the name of the band?

08/12/08 11:46 AM #109

Thomas L. Pederson

Ha, got it - the name of the band was Cyrus.

08/12/08 11:58 AM #110

Steve Town

Me, Leo Reuder, Margret Hunter (Leo's sister), Lori Robertson, Pam Torgeson, Paul Young, Dominic Hummel, Tom Fagerwald, John Hokenson. The list goes on of those of us that went to Riverside. Then thrown into the "Oak Grove expirement" They (the powers that were) wanted to see if the Mode system would work. Trying to explain to someone that "We didn't have Hours we have Modes" was difficult at best. Modes sure made for alot of free time. I'm not sure that was a good thing??
I remember there was ONE computer in the entire school! You had to dial the phone. When you heard "the funny sound" you put the phone down on the modum. The computer had no screen it just typed. But it could type in both directions. That was pretty cool but then again so was Pong?

Hey, Guys, "Classic Albums Live" in February - Led Zepplin - Houses of the Holy - was great. The band did a great job of duplicating the album and then played many other hits afterward.

And yeah for "The Cars". My Best Friends Girlfriend is in my top 10

And thanks for the update on the Foghat Concert I missed

08/12/08 02:48 PM #112

Sandra D. Kruckow

Hey Kathy V-M
The Foghat Concert! I can't remember it - isn't that sad? I know it was at the old Civic Center.
I remember your dad telling you "you aren't going to no Fogheart Concert". Then next time he said it he called it Tophat, he just couldn't seem to get it right - we laughed about that for years.
Do you remember WHY you got grounded??? LOL - I won't say it here but please tell me you remember that night!!!
Which reminds me - remember I wanted to be a cop when I grew up? Then one of you pointed out "yeah right, you'd be busting all of your friends".
Yes, that's what "former lives" are for. Least we can laugh about it. Geez, I hope none of the people in my "grown-up" life can read this stuff. HA HA

Spencer is one of the Pastors at my church now "Evergreen" And Lisa is still singing and sounding as good if not Better than ever.

The band was Cyrus. I can't believe you remembered that name Tom! Tom Colbert was their manager. He tried to make Mike into Robert Plant and made him sing falsetto.

Yep, I at riverside in 5th & 6th grade and Northgate for a couple years before that. Modular scheduling at Oak Grove - when I went from an 'A' student to barely a 'C' student. No wait, OG had strong, average and weak, not letter grades. How in the world was a 12 year old supposed to be responsible enough for his own schedule? I remember discovering how to use a coat hangar to break into the auditorium and hide behind the curtains.

Funny I remember Peter Merrifield from back then. I remember him as a cool kid who actually seemed to not mind hanging with me.

Marilyn L. Gould (VanOsdel)

Hey Sue PP, I went to the Eagles, Steve Miller Band concert as well as the Beach boys concert at the old Twins Stadium. It was sweet! Then I moved to California and worked taking tickets and seating people at concerts during my college years. I saw more concerts than I can remember. The most memorable? Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac....hmmm. I actually paid to go see the Go Go's! Lots of good old music from our years is still so good, teenagers are loving it still. For some odd reason, "Build Me up Buttercup" from 9th grade is a silly fave.

Bret, I do not remember B. Wiirtanen either. She is not in any of our yearbooks. Not even in the elusive camera evaders section. So where did she come from? Craig?

Has anyone heard from John Primrose? What ever happened to him?
Marilyn Gould V.

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

Kathy Moe(Sandler) and I still go to every Hall and Oates concert that comes around. Don't forget the Best of Bread everybody!!

08/12/08 10:14 PM #117

Lori A. Tuchscherer (Broadhead)

Does anyone know how Rhonda Wiirtanen got on our list of graduates? I would think that someone would have spoken up by now if they remembered her.

John Primrose was doing well when I saw him at the 20 year, but haven't heard from him since then.

Julie Boeser - how is your brother?

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

Hi Lori! How the heck are ya? Are you coming up for the reunion?

Marilyn,
Watching the olympics reminds me of speed swimming at Portland and how good you and Tricia Cook were.

Lori A. Tuchscherer (Broadhead)

Hey Sue P! I am good - but won't be there. Boo hoo! It looks like you still know how to have a good time, girl!
