How about the week just before Firemans we have one or two other events, and then ending it all with the actual Firemans tournament?

That way, some folks like Carol and others who can't be there on Fireman's weekend can still participate and join the festivities.

Oh yeah . . . Steve, let's have a Dodge ball game! I'm all for it. I'll probably throw out my shoulder, but what the hell . . . we only turn 50 once. (Jeff Richards gets to turn 50 twice apparently, one with us and another in Vietnam. Pretty cool!)

Camping sounds like fun. If it's going to the Fireman's,then the Thunderbird,I'd get tired at the party after being in the sun all day. Is it just me or is the 50 showing?

I haven't been blonde since childhood! I like Adam's idea of week long festivities. That way I can still be a part of it. Sorry Donna, I never got your message until just today. This happened with a few other messages. Weird! I think if we had a motorcycle run some time in that process, those of us with bikes will be very happy. I have friends at Canterbury and may be able to work a deal with them for some fun over there. I say make the BASH July 9-18. We can have several things going on each day and those who want to particpate can. Donna give me a yes or no on this and we will make it official and move on from here.

Who would like to get people together and set up a golf day??

I know nothing about golf but I know there are tons of you that do -- who wants to pull people together for that?

If everyone grabs one thing to do - we can have a plan for every day in no time.

Do not worry about over laps - not everyone will go to everything --

John Amato is interested in putting together a golf gig. He did it for the 30th. You may want to contact him.

I am Loving it!!

I'm too "sceered" to play dodgeball (Valley View flashbacks are kicking in - Kent Hrbek,Dale Harazin, Al Puls and Tom Rekowski really threw the ball hard!) - but I think a good game of kickball could be interesting!

Kickball, dodgeball . . . both sound fun to me. Don't forget a simple game of softball or volleyball could be just as fun too. We could all gather, cook on a BBQ, watch and mingle while others take turns to play.

I think a bike run is a great idea. Is anyone out there good at route planning??? I'm a better follower when it comes to riding. : )

Saint Paul Harley's Lightning Run my be happening during the dates picked for the bash. It is an awesome event & well organized & a fund raiser for Diabetes.

John Gorski sent me a note and gave me the dates so I have blocked July 12th through the 16th off for vacation. I am IN!!

One more thing -

For those who will need hotel rooms you may want to start checking into reservations. My understanding is that hotels in Bloomington are scarce during the Firemen's Tournament.

I know most fields are occupied during the summer but

Wrights Lake on 84th and 17th has a softball field and room for a good dodge ball or kick ball game -- room to park and room to cook (grill)

I can check with the city of Bloomington for use -
There are other smaller parks around but not all have parking, a lot of room, playground for the kids and a port-a-potty

Any other suggestion?

The two best people I know for bike runs are Lorie Sejrup and or Steve Town .... how about Rod?? Any takers??

There is a fun bikers restaurant in Wisconsin that is great to go to called Hanson's Holdup. It would be an all day run to do it (leave at 9:30 back by 4:00 or 5:00). If you want a closer shorter route, A trip to Northfield is always fun.

As to the kick off... Canterbury Downs was suggested to me and I thought it was a great idea. If we want something more simple, we could go for a reserved area at a park and picnic. Maybe we could get some door prizes for give aways. Reserving a block of rooms at various hotels would also be wise. Any idea of how many we should reserve? I'm thinking around 50.
