Friends: On a side note, a very dear friend of mine in Kingwood Texas has been dealing with Melanoma Cancer.  Please watch your skin closely, specifically if you have moles that have any changes.  That cancer is a very silent killer, creeps up on you fast, by the time you see changes in moles, there may have been years of damage taking place in your body.  Wthin 4 months of getting the mole removed off her back, she has undergone numerous surgeries to remove lymph nodes, interfueron treatments, and now already has metastasized cells in her Liver, Spleen & Brain,  She recently had radiation treatment to the brain cells, but it is a fast moving and very deadly cancer.  I know that so many think that the sun kissed look is nice, but in reality, it is the kiss of death for us.  PLEASE watch those subtle changes on your skin! My friend is only 46 years old, and is fighting for her life.  Lets all keep close tabs on our own, and loved ones!

For those that had Sonny Carlson in history class, girl's track or football, he lost his life to cancer this morning.  He and his wife have lived in Aitkin, MN the last 15 years or so.

Hi Class of 78. I am trying to get some people together, the one night I am in town this summer. I am planning on being at Ole Piper Inn, in Lakeville, 167th and Cedar, by the BP station. June 14th. Karaoke begins at 8:30 PM, and it sure would be great to see as many of you as can make it. You don't have to sing, just share in the merriment.

I hope I am not over stepping my boundaries by posting this, but Laurie Rude, know to most of us as Laurie Challman.. recently went through surgery for  Cancer.  She is doing well, in Blue Jay,  CA

I think she would benefit from all of our class' prayers that they were able to have successful surgery, but also pray for a good outcome from the pathology reports, which may be another week.

I while heartedly believe in the Power of Pray, and where there are more than one gathered in his name: well anything is possible!  Prayers are Powerful friends, please include her in yours!

Hoping that I will be able to say Hi to many the next time I am in MN, but unfortunately not anytime soon,  I will let you know when I ever get that way.

I believe in the power of prayer as well and think this is a great suggestion.  I just survived Thyroid Cancer a few months ago.  I started support group for the twin cities and had my first event today to help raise awareness.

Any type of cancer is scarey.  It is best to rely on your faith.  My has strengthened during my journey and I honestly believe that raising awareness about what we can do to support others with this disease is important.

I would like to thank you for your post and encourage people to send out positive thoughts and prayers.

Good Afternoon Kennedy Class of 78!!!

Those of you who live in or drive through Bloomington or Richfield may have noticed a familiar name on some blue and white signs. My wife, Melissa Halvorson Wiklund (Kennedy Class of '80) is running for State Senate.

I'm writing today to ask for your support. If you would be willing to have a lawn sign in your yard, please click on my name at the top of this message, to send me an email.

Or click on the link below to go to Melissa's website. There, you'll be able to click on the "Volunteer" button and check the box to let us know if you'd be willing to have a lawn sign.

http://wiklundforsenate.com/

If you no longer live in Bloomington, but have friends or family who still live in Bloomington or Richfield who'd be willing to take a sign, I would appreciate your referrals.

Thank you very much for your support!

Craig Wiklund

I am truly horrified at all the people from our class with cancer!!

Julie Samuleson is going through it right now --

(same thing that claimed Farah F ... )

I used to think it only affected a "FEW" people ...

now it seems like it does NOT affect a 'few'

Hope all can pull together and give our friends strength

in a time they really need it!

Hi Class of 78'

I just thought I would check in and let folks know I am managing my recovery from thyroid cancer.  The worst thing so far is the high dose of thyroid hormone they require you to take for a year.  I am six months out and have chatted with the doctor about this.  I have decided to return to a normal doseage for now because the side effects are unmanageable.

I was blessed with a new job through the State at the end of September and love it!  I now work for the Department of Health, Health Care Homes, Learning Collaborative.  I have learned so much in the last few months it is almost like being back in school.

My biggest news for 2013 will happen in June when I will marry the love of my life.  I have known him for 14 years almost and am happy to be a bride at 52.  We are having a quiet private ceremony at our home in St. Paul.

I hope 2013 has brought others such life changing happiness as well.  Take care for now.  The soon to be Mrs. Evans.
