Hey this internet thing is kind of cool - wish they'd had it 30 years ago :)

Onto Kennedy teachers, I always liked Mr Mooney. The guy was constantly wiping his spit off the transparencies as he'd show examples on them. Remember that he always wore a suit jacket, with a sweater underneath - and his favorite trick was taking the sweater off without removing the jacket. Priceless.

Lori - I have my nightstand too!

What about Mrs. Pappas and Mrs. Mendenhall (sp) from Portland?

I also remember Mrs. Johnston....she was a teacher for one of my kids! Also Joe's 6th grade teacher Mr. Shogren was a teacher for my oldest at Oak Grove Intermediate! When he figured out that my oldest was a "Boeser" his comment to me was "good lord..."

PS...Jolene Danielson where are you?

Reading all of these posts have brought back many memories.

Sue P- Do you remember taking the Cold Weather Bus to Portland? We would meet over at Cheryl Brayton's house. We thought the bus driver looked like David Cassidy and he would fly down the road so that when he hit the dip in the road we would all go flying.

I can't believe how addicted I am getting to reading all these posts! It's so fun to read the names of people I haven't thought about in years. The mod scheduling at Oak Grove turned this good student into a pro at skipping class - with all that freedom, no one could find me. (The music practice rooms were a good hideout.) Science packets - yuck! (Remember the alligator in the painted bathtub in the lab?) Totally forgot about the "MRC". I think I have a picture of myself with Mauro Paiva(?) Neto from Brazil - I remember how hot we all thought he was! And how did the Portland JH girls get to take shop? I'm pretty sure that only the girls took Home Ec, and only the boys had Industrial Arts at OG until a year or two after us?

And speaking of teachers at Kennedy - I have thought about Mr. Nansen's geometry class many times over the years. I actually felt sorry for him because he was such a nervous wreck. I remember he used to use his hankie to wipe the chalk off his hands. AND he used it to blow his nose.

I guess the Portland girls were just ahead of their time!

I guess you Portland girls were! OG was supposed to be the most "modern" school of the time - Ha.

Was it Brett or Mr. Gorski that mentioned a bib for drooling? Well I failed...i tried to find a JFK logo big enough to have a nice adult sized bib made for who ever it was that mentioned it! I couldn't find one that looked good :(

The only thing I remember about Mr. Krob at Protland was his damn twitching eye. It would start twitching and he would put his finger up to his cheek until it stopped. He was a different cat! My band career was short lived.

Does anyone remember English teacher Miss Van Hauer? I felt so sorry for her. I think a couple of us might have "helped" her with her grade book. Not very proud of that one.

I remember hearing horrible stories about Mrs. Van Hauer (sp?) but I never had her. On top of the grade book assistance, I believe I heard about her being shut in her closet. If my own kids did even half of the stuff I did back then - I definitely do not want to know about it. (Yet.) I honestly don't think they did, but then again, I think my parents trusted me too much also!

I also heard about her being shut in the closet. I think that was a couple of years before us.

Betty - When I think of Boz Scaggs (still love that music) I think about all those Friday and Saturday nights roller skating. And Hall and Oates "Rich Girl" - Lisa and I sang a specific line of that song real loud as we passed by a foe. I am not so proud of many of my memories - but I guess I turned out OK.

Todd Dressen, you can help with this - I think you were in my Van Haur class. My recollection is that Brian McGinley (Brian, forgive me if it wasn't you) hid in her closet and made noises. When she opened the closet door, Brian jumped out and she about bit it.

Yes she was shut in her closet and I think Hrbek was behind it. What about Miss Tasa for 10th grade English? She used to spit when she talked.

Dorene, I do remember the bus driver and it was David Cassidy!! We were always at Cheryl Brayton's house and we had to hide in the closet if her mom came home from work early because she wasn't supposed to have friends over.

Remember Mr. Miller? I remember Lori Eicher, Moe and I always being late for his class and I think he gave us D's!

Someone planted some pot in the house plant she had on her desk too! Can't remember who that was!

Julie - you can't remember who, or are you pleading the 5th?

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

Okay everybody go to my profile and look at the picture I just downloaded from 9th grade. Boelter and Bjerke, sorry!!

Julie M. Boeser (O'Hara)

It was not me! I honestly can't remember who! I do remember her stomping her foot and throwing it out the window....a bunch of the guys ran outside after class :)

Susan Orrie (Somers)

Was it Mike Ramnus(sp)?

08/13/08 10:56 PM #191

Sue, that is a great picture! Notice Mike's foot - he had torn his achilles, I believe - had it in a cast. Is that Bjerke or a 4th grader?

08/13/08 11:07 PM #192

Peter R. Bjerke

OMG!!! That is good! Sue, if you would have stood on my shoulders, collectively we still couldn't have dunked a basketball. The sad part is.....it was 14 more years before I reached puberty! I'd have to say the guys were seriously over-chicked. Wow!
Now, we're talkin' Best of Bread! Yah baby!

08/13/08 11:08 PM #193

Sue Ellen M. Peterson (Polson)

You're good I didn't even notice. And Pete Bjerke was my date and graduated 9th grade even if he was 10. He was very smart! Sorry Pete!

08/13/08 11:09 PM #194

Peter R. Bjerke

Shut up, Pederson.
You too, Sue P. I got an inch on you and two inches on the floor lamp next to me! Mena's upstairs wondering what the hell is so funny! OMG!
