Hey everyone just thought I would let you know Bothell High school hits national television for the first time ever tonight. I saw some promo the football team is playing Skyline on ESPNU tonight at 5pm. Wow national tv they must be really good for that to happen. I think ESPNU is a digital cable channel. Go Cougs!!

I think its more about the Skyline QB...Jake Heaps. Top Junior QB in the country I think. Oh and they can talk about the 9 overtime game or however many it was that Cougs played a couple years back. National stuff like that is cool and thanks for sharing. I wouldn't have known. Now...if only Comcast didnt have this dispute over ESPNU. Not available to my knowledge at all on Comcast. Dish Network has it though.

BHS looks nothing like it did when we went there! My PeeWee team had a Football game there last month and my Sons where asking me if it was the same as when I went there. Hell No! I had not been up by there since the mid 90's. Holy @#$@! Tottaly unrecognizable. Deffiently not the BHS we attended. I do not think we had the ghetto vesion it was more like the trailer park version.

It is nice to see they updated the school. It looks very nice. One of these days I will have to check it out. My parent's moved frm Bothell 6 years ago so I haven't really had a reason to visit Bothell. I did pass through there this past June and I almost didn't recognize Thrasher's Corner. I was lucky to even find our old house. Things have certainly changed. All this new constructions surrounding old buildings. It looked like an old lady surrounded by beautiful women.

Since the forum has been dead a while I'm going to stir the pot a bit so please remember, nothing I write is personal... I'm disappointed & irritated that Barack Obama won the election! Most people when asked why they voted for Obama, exclaim, "I wanted change, something new & fresh." What do they mean by this statement? Did they educate themselves on the differences between the two candidates or just close their eyes and push the button? McCain's been tested (Vietman) has years of overseas experience and has been a true "Maverick" for most his political life (campaign reform/at odds with many in his own party). Sure, he was getting up there in age and isn't much to look at through a television screen when compared to Obama, but are we realy that shallow? I can admit that our president elect is an amazing speaker, confident, passionate, and seems about as honest as you can expect a politician to be. However, what about experience, endurance, and foreign affairs? Do we really want to role the dice with our country in hopes that the gamble will pay off or should we have been more cautious? Obama would have been more seasoned even four years from now, couldn't we have waited at least til then ? Comments anyone?? Be nice!

I'm with ya!! Unbelievable outcome. History certainly does repeat itself. And history holds true about height! All we can do now is pray that what we (they really) are wishing for doesn't come true. Do we really want to turn into Cuba? I know.....a bit harsh........I know we're smarter than that......but are we? Scary stuff.
Thanks for stirring the pot Brad!

Brad, I so agree with you and Teresa. This country is rapidly on its way to becoming third world.... We no longer employ this countrys people, use it resources, and I dont care what anyone says, we let anyone come here and then give them money, when we dont even take care of our own...I am so sick of hearing the word "CHANGE". Thats all we heard from Obama, but he never said what the hell he is going to change...or how he plans to do it...The people of this country spoke, now they will have to live with their decisions....and I guess so will those of us whom saw through his bullshit...

Mariana Saccon (Harper)

i for one have a positive outlook. obama wasn't my first choice, but i think he will be the voice that brings this nation together to solve problems. we need to renew some good old fashioned patriotism, and obama will do well in that area at least. as for the rest of the issues.....i think we should do our best to support and help him. to rag against the president does no good. if something goes truly against what you believe in- join a cause, start a campaign against and write some letters. i have never found bashing someone to be a solution. let's make the best of a "not so bad" situation!

I voted Obama (since my first choice Nader isn't one of the two required parties that can only win). Mainly the end of the war and more importantly, the environment. We must use solar and nuclear as prime energy sources. The side effect is less reliance on foreign product (we all know what that is) as an added bonus.
Also we could levy a high tax on any company that is using foreign workers overseas, thereby helping our economy once they realize it is not saving money (the tax would have to be high enough to justify the businesses offering decent wages to domestic workers). Think of it as an Export Job Penalty.
I realize my taxes will probably increase with Obama, but if he can progress on any of the abovementioned issues it's worth it to me.

Although I have strong views, I do agree with all of you on alot of the comments, Trevor, you are right on track with your views and i share your ideals as well. I firmly believe that we as a people and a country need to focus on our failing ecomomy,(the tax is a great idea). I also believe that expanding our horizons with the current situation on fossil fuels and energy is almost seemingly out of controll. One thing about me is I am very much a patriotic man, I duely honor our fallen men and woman for giving me, and all of us the opportunity's we have as a people. My opinions may be harsh at times, but I am not knocking our president elect, nor am I 100% against him. I just believe that he is not nor does not have the experience needed to be the leader of this great nation, and when it gets down to the real bread and butter it is not him that really makes the difference, that is within the congress and the senate, he may have the power to veto, but not the difference to change the country... I do believe he has the power to restore hope among a nation of the distraught people of the country.. I do not worry so much about what will happen in my time here on earth, yet I do worry what will happen to my children and their children and so on. What we do now is what will affect them. Yes, I am active within my community and am a part of various groups and organizations to help protect our rights, our childrens rights, and most of all the continous fight to preserve this nations freedom to be who and what we are.... I as a free citizen do accept the things that I cannot change, and strive to change the things I can... I have faith, I have hope, and I have love, which gives me the strength and power to do these things willingly and unselfishly. I think that really its our responsibility to make the changes amongst ourselves, and our communities. Just a thought.

Knowing that this country voted for Obama, the first black president, gives me hope that it gives women a chance to become president. I hold out hope that in my lifetime I will see a woman president in the White House. If Hilary had been the presidential nominee I would have voted for her. I don't know if you remember but I used to sign the year books First Woman President.

I like that Brad is trying to "stir the pot" so to speak and we should keep this board lively.

However, let's keep in mind that everyone from our class is going to have different views and perspectives on many issues that challenge us these days. We should be mindful of that when posting and remember that the intent of THIS board is to reconnect with old friends, share stories and convey reunion information.

Since we aren't able to create separate topic based discussions, I will just ask that we all are sensitive to that.

Ok, I've had my mother hen moment. GO COUGS!

So, how about those BHS cheerleaders! Apparently they've made a name for themselves nationally!

Hope the political debate didn't "distress" to many people. Several weeks went by without a post or peep from anyone. Written with courtesy & respect, I thought some debate would be engaging & fun. Looking at what was written & posted I think it was. I completely understand that some people can be offended however, if you can't share with people you've known more than half your life who can you share/debate with. Jennifer, you have done an amazing job with this site; every time I look at it again you've improved it in some way. I'm sure I speak on everyone's behalf when I say thank's so much!

Didn't see anything on the BHS cheerleaders. What did they do?? I know the football team was on national tv this year on ESPN U. It was great to hear national guys talking about Bothell High School.

Well, let's just say a couple of the girls sent nudie pictures of themselves to their boyfriends and then it was all down hill from there. One girl was given a 30 day suspension from the squad while another was kicked off for the year. Their parents decided to sue to school district claiming unfair punishment for the girls as nothing happened to any of the boys who forwarded the photos. (i.e. - distributing pornographic materials).

The story actually made CBS morning news last week. The whole thing is kind of silly if you ask me.

The football players were told to delete the photos from their cell phones immediately. Yeah, right. So, what...are they going to start having mandatory cell phone inspections at school now?

These girls made a really stupid mistake, but who didn't do something stupid when they were in school?!?!? Geez, it scares me to think of what WE all would have done had we had cell phones back in the day. Sheesh!

I agree 100% with what Brad is stating in his comments. I found the information written by everyone regarding politics both enlightening and refreshing. Thanks, Brad!

Hi everyone,
I'm curious: Whose flying back to Seattle for Christmas? Realizing that most are already there, that's obvious. I'm going to try tomorrow, but hearing the snow reports makes me think I'll be sitting at Sea-Tac for at least a couple of hours (red-eye flight).
Irony update: Here I am in Orlando wondering why the A/C is screwed up again. I can't wait to celebrate w/ family and friends, but I'm more suited to this area and call it home.
Ok... anyone else trying to fly in?
