Ok Carrol,
At your continued urging, I FINALLY read and enjoyed the Lost Generation video that Maurice submitted. I'm also glad you're not an insurance salesperson.

I guess we could all talk about Hemaroyd's, Hemmoiroids, Hemmaroids. Is there a spell check on this site?

Linda Lybarger (Roland)

Oh my gosh....the old Freeport Hospital was great! I was born there too and I still remember the old white hospital...It was 2 stories or was it 3??? My mother worked there as a nurse for years and in the summer I used to go and "hang out"....Good grief!!! That was an eternity ago!!!!! hahahaha...

Connie Marsh (Wood)

I'm with Michael that we need some kind of music at our reunion ... preferably all the great oldies that were hits during our years at BHS. Who are these people that want a video record of how old we've all gotten!? LOL

Freeporterites,

Do you remember going over the Broad Street RR tracts fast enough to tickle your stomach but not so fast that you became airborne?

Do you know the story of how Broad Street (Third Street) got its name?

I bet Winona A-Bear and Margaret Due-Bwa know the story.

----------------------------------------------------
Hey Dee, you and Margaret were challenging each other on who had the best gumbo. You BOTH better sign up and bring your gumbo!!! Alice

Kathy Harkreader (Jones)

Connie, yeah, who *are* those people who want a video record of how much we've changed? :)

-------------------------------------------------------
Weeeeeeeellllll, I would be one of those people! Alice
-------------------------------------------------------

Dee, I remember going over those RR tracks like you described. As far as the question about Broad Street, I'd like to use my phone-a-friend option. :)

Here's a question (might only apply to Jane Long Elem people)--does anyone remember the Guys and Dolls Dance Club? I think that took place in the 6th grade. I think we met once a month and learned different dances--fox trot, waltz, etc. I seem to remember Doug Tucker being in it and maybe H.L. The boys probably did not go willingly. :) It's doubtful that anyone from our group will end up on Dancing w/ the Stars, but I'll keep watching, just in case.

Okay, now that I offered up my unsolicited yet valued and wise opinions about the videographer & music, let me say now how GRATEFUL and THANKFUL I am for you folks on the reunion committee for handling all these details for those of us that do not live in the area. I APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH!!!
*********************************************************
CONNIE, INPUT IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS APPRECIATED! Carrol
*********************************************************

Carrol, your minutes and updates are hilarious. Why did you and I not hang out more in H.S.? When does your stand-up routine get underway on the club circuit? Tim and I are THERE!

P.S. I suggest lining up all the skinny classmates and taking videos of them only.

04/06/09 10:18 AM #268

Yvonne Senturia

I'm with Connie on everything she said: thank you thank you thank you to all y'all who are working on the reunion AND I'm much more interested in the oldies music than the videographer... AND I'd go see Carrol do standup with pleasure!

04/06/09 11:26 AM #269

Mike Strickland

We should line up all the skinny people and ban them from the proceedings.

04/06/09 11:26 AM #270

Mike Strickland

And ask Carrol to wear her special crown to the reunion.

Kathy Harkreader (Jones)

Tony, maybe you could suggest to Harold that Linda Lybarger is a nurse and she may know something to help the "H" problem. He may not read this so maybe you could send him a message.

04/06/09 11:52 AM #272

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Let's see----could it possibly be that those old cajuns couldn't pronounce the "th" sound and it came out as something quite unacceptable to the fine citizens of Freeport? And yes-we don't need a video to record for all eternity how old and not skinny we have become! There is a reason for not posting a current photo on this web site.

------------------------------------------------------
MARGARET, I HAVEN'T SEEN YOUR SIGN UP TO BRING GUMBO. Alice

MARGARET got the right answer! ! !

Winona Hebert (Spinks)

Dee/Margaret:
Thanks for the history lesson--I did not know that tidbit (but it certainly sounds right).

04/06/09 01:23 PM #275

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Hey Dee-
All it took was thinking back and remembering how my grandpa used to talk-about the same way a 18 month old would pronounce the "th" sound. Remembering how my grandparents cooked also help me with my Cajun food cooking.

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

I’ve been at work and at the dentist so until now have been unable to join this dignified discussion. MICHAEL JOHN STRICKLAND, the dueling photo threats don't frighten me because . . . . . . . . . I’ve sunk lower. In 1979 I inadvertently mooned an entire airplane full of tourists in the Bahamas so a questionable crown? NOT A PROBLEM! As far as I know there are no photos of the bare behind event but at least 50 people still tell that story, I guarantee it. (Had I seen it, I would still be telling it.) Besides, when I wore the crown I was a college kid who had been plied with liquor. I was stone cold sober on the airplane - but I certainly wasn’t the rest of that week and with good reason; it was a tour & we were all at the same hotel! (BTW, Mike, my roommate’s name floated to the surface today – Alyce Baskins)
The videographer is so that at our 50th reunion the lucky among us will be thrilled to be able to say, “gosh, didn’t I look good at 58!” And don’t we all want a video of Michael Poehl getting his groove on for posterity?
Y'all are doing a GREAT job of spreading the word. Just in the last 2 days we've been joined by H.L. Ammons, Brenda Johnson, Steve Landers, Cyndie Strother, Claudette Crosby, Jack Sorrell, Danny Kalischko, Karen King and Terry Hilton. Its like the t.v. commercial, "you tell 2 friends and they tell 2 friends, etc., etc."

Tony Barnard

Kathy,
I believe you're trying to get me in trouble by suggesting I discuss "H" cures with Harold and Linda, so I'll pass for now. But, thanks for answering my spell check question.

Winona Hebert (Spinks)

Carrol/Maria/Alice
I've been tracking down folks from your list and sent you 20 new updates today via email. Let me know if you didn't get it. It's good to see that some are as excited about the reunion as we are.
--------------------------------------------------
Winona, you've been a HUGE, HUGE help. And yes we did get the new addresses. Wonderful....thanks a bunch.

Nice trick Carrol. How does it feel to be master of the universe?
********************************************************* i really, really like it ;-) Carrol

Glenn Mallory**

I've been carefully checking our reunion schedule. I think Carrol has a hidden agenda in place. Some where between shenanigans and alcoholic beverages we need to have our cameras ready for a repeat performance of Carrol showing her XXX or moon walk.

With the girdle review at BHS and now this story I think Dr. Phil should be invited to help us cope with these images.

04/06/09 10:14 PM #281

Michael Poehl

Watching North Carolina destroy Michigan State gives me an idea for the reunion, since we have so FEW activities going on for the week-end....it seems we have 2.5 hours of open time on Sunday !!

If Carrol has the gym at BHS for Sunday services, maybe we could get up a basketball game prior to the services. Something like shirts vs. skins so we would have something to videograph, or maybe males vs. females ? We could have John Vernor be our player / coach.
----------------------------------------------------
OH GREAT, MICHAEL, NOW WE HAVE TO HIRE AN AMBULANCE TO BE ON SITE TO PICK UP ALL THE BASKETBALL PLAYERS WHO ARE NEEDING OXYGEN BECAUSE THEY WERE SHOWING OFF DURING THE GAME!!! Alice
-----------------------------------------------------

John Greenberg and his wife Gail were in Austin this past week-end for some golf and entertainment and he has agreed to help provide prizes for the golf tourney. Maybe if we get enough donations we can all win a prize. Hope Harold Johnstone sharpens his game and makes our sunrise tee time.

Finally - Carrol if you do your moon thing for the class I will start practicing my moon walk dance, so we can both say how great we looked at 58 if we make it another 10 years.

04/07/09 06:40 AM #282

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

Michael, regarding the moon over Nassau - the behind of '09 is not the behind of '79 and even then it was an ACCIDENT. AND, I'm a Reneau, we rarely see 68.
Do you really want to see if we can use the gym Sunday a.m.? I'm sure there is a fee for that but . . . I can sure check if you are serious. Manly men have to do what manly men must, I suppose. This girl ain't playing but . . . Yvonne,Cyndie, Nancy, etc. sound like the female athletes.

04/07/09 07:48 AM #283

Cyndie Chrystal (Williams)

Carrol,
Don't pass that baton onto Yvonne, Nancy and me. The only public sport I do is an occasional race with many many people running around and with me. Can you even imagine the injuries that any one of us would incur if we had a competitive basketball game at this age!?? I'm not sure I want to even think about a skin vs. shirt match, Michael!!
Carrol, don't let those guys push you around. Contrary to what Michael Ray/John might think, you are STILL the boss of them.
*********************************************************
Injuries actually crossed my mind, too! Trips to the ER aren't a good way to end a reunion . . . or anything else. And I don't even think I would run from a man with a gun much less race VOLUNTARILY. Carrol

04/07/09 08:19 AM #284

Connie Marsh (Wood)

Well, all I can say is that I was really looking forward to rediscovering the Funky Four Corners with my friends on the dance floor at the reunion. No way I'm gonna do it now with a videographer around *********************************************************
Connie, start practicing so you can give lessons before Bunco Saturday a.m. The videographer is Tommy Palmer's assignment so . . . . I think it is safe to say there will be nothing to post on YOUTUBE. Carrol

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

Harold, I loved hearing from you and about your family. This has been wonderful for me since I feel I lost touch with so many being so far away.

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

Tommy Dye, I can't believe how much my husband and you have in common. The clocks, fishing, rebuilding cars, it sounds like him! I wish he was coming with me so you could meet him. He has a 2000 Camero SS in the garage now.
