Bobby N. Morrow

Bobby N. Morrow, 75, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2009. He was born March 13, 1934, in Crockett, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tressie and Ethridge Morrow. He grew up in Crockett, graduating from Crockett High School. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University on a golf scholarship, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master's degrees. He served in the United States Army for two years.

He moved to the Brazosport area in 1963 with his wife, Judy, to start their life and raise a family. Mr. Morrow worked for Brazosport Independent School District for 26 years, starting out as a counselor at Brazosport High School. He eventually became supervisor of counseling then director of personnel with BISD. He also worked as director of personnel for Clear Creek ISD, retiring in December 1993.

He was a strong believer in education. He always had a special way to make teachers feel at ease during their interviews with the school district. He taught his son Jeff how to play golf, a passion they shared on a regular basis on and off the course. Mr. Morrow, an avid golfer, was a former president at Riverside Country Club.

The loving husband, father and grandfather (Papa) is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy Morrow. He also is survived by his son, Jeff Morrow, and Jenny, as well as his daughter, Jennifer Morrow Rod and her husband, Bobby Rod. He is survived by four grandsons, Matt Rod, Mason Rod, Mitchell Rod and Cody Morrow. He also is survived by his brother-in-law, Tom Sims; and cousins, Terry Morrow and wife, Diana, and Kenneth Caldwell and wife, Billie.

Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson.

Funeral service is 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, at First United Methodist Church in Lake Jackson with Pastor Charles Geller officiating.

Burial to follow at Restwood.

Pallbearers are Ray Langston, Bobby Rod, Matt Rod, Mason Rod, Ken Dye, Tom Sims and Cody Morrow.

Honorary pallbearers are all his special golfing friends and his youngest golfing buddy, grandson Mitchell Rod.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson, The LZ Bryan-Flash Walker Scholarship Fund, any Brazosport College scholarship fund or another charity of your choice.
