Carol Louise Koenig

Carol "Nana" Louise Bruce Koenig of Angleton, Texas, born May 16, 1951 in Cushing, Oklahoma was re-born into Heaven on January 16, 2016 in Houston, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

To summarize the life of Nana is simply impossible. Nana was larger than life. She was the embodiment of love, hope, faith and grace. Her spirit remains with us in everything she cherished most…a baby's giggle, God's painted sunset, flutters-by of the butterfly, buzz of hummingbird wings, all the bright and beautiful colors of spring, every part of nature which calls out the name of our Creator.

Nana was a diva. Her sparkle could not be subdued not even by the battle which she so valiantly fought. Her favorite color was tie dye and you could never be certain what hair-color she might sport from day to day. She was glitter and glitz, yet the most down to earth and giving lady you'd ever meet. The perfect balance of perfect love.
She adored her "Bubba," family and friends. She especially went ga-ga over the babies, oh the babies! Nana loved the babies and the babies loved Nana. She always put others ahead of herself and never missed an opportunity to say a kind word or do a kind deed.

She had a hunger to see the world, and together with her dearest "Bubba," often with sisters and friends in tow, they did just that. Stateside or abroad, she just couldn't stay settled. Her spontaneous nature and thirst for adventure was never quenched for long. Though frequent trips to run the slots at Coushatta made their attempt to tame her.
Nana's vibrant personality was expressed through her eclectic hobbies. Shopping topped the list. No one could quite cut a rug the way she and Bubba did. Whether softball, bowling or fishing, they were always in it together. Being married to your best friend was a blessing they lived and gleefully expressed.

Full of shenanigans, Nana was always the life of the party. Her silliness was an all-time high for everyone around. Her smile, oh it would light the moon and her laughter was contagious.

Above all, Nana was loved.

Our hearts are broken by our loss, yet comforted by her gain. Nana will forever shine bright in our skies. Her legacy will not dim, for we shall share precious moments and funny stories for all our years to come, until we are united with her once again.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother Pauline Bruce; her parents-in-law Elizabeth and George W. Koenig; brothers Dennis Bruce and Randy Bruce.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Bobby Gene Koenig (her cherished "Bubba"); father, Bill Keith Bruce; daughter Melissa Brannon (husband Ian), son Shawn Barnhill, step-son Michael Koenig (wife Lisa), step-daughter Lisa Steiner; sisters Cheryl Cuellar (husband Mario), Elaine McGehee (husband Allen); brother Keith Bruce; grandson Steffan Payne; granddaughters Emilee Payne, Shelby Koenig and Callie Koenig; great-grandson Asher Hedrick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carolyn and George Koenig; sisters-in-law Terry Bruce and Cindy Bruce; and numerous beloved family and friends.

Proudly serving as Pallbearers are Shawn Barnhill, Michael Koenig, Steffan Payne, Mario Cuellar, George Koenig, Allen McGehee. Honorary Pallbearers are Asher Hedrick, Keith Bruce, Jason Bruce, Billy Huett, Ian Brannon.

Visitation will be Monday, January 11, 2016 from 6-8pm at Restwood Funeral Home.

Funeral Services, (her final soiree) will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 1pm. Services officiated by Pastor Chris Moore of Second Baptist Church of Angleton, Texas.

Carol Koenig will be laid to rest immediately following funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your charity of choice. Nana's wish is that we enjoy a day of remembrance, make a commitment to spending quality time with loved ones, and bless others in need, for our time here is limited and every precious moment counts.
