Virginia Smock added: Brenda was smart, funny, and adventerous. She was the first person I met who actually wanted to read the classics. She introduced me to DH Lawrence our senior year. She was my "cohort in crime" when we discovered that Bryan Beach was much more educational than Brazosport High School on Fridays! After high school she lived in California for several years where she adopted the name "Marnie", which she used for the rest of her life. In her mid-twenties she returned to Freeport where she was part of a large loving family. She married, and had a son. Her sudden death from heart failure was tragic. I still wish we could sit down and have a good talk. Brenda was a dear friend and I value the time we had together.
