Monty Nuckols

Monty Joe Nuckols, 69 of Lake Jackson, TX, passed away on June 23rd at 12:45 am. Monty was born to Virgil Grady Nuckols, Jane Nuckols on July 13th of 1950 in Harlingen, TX. Monty was married to Judith Nuckols in Lake Jackson, TX on October 31st, 1970.

Monty proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1971-1975 on the U.S. Buoy tender Gentian Galveston, TX, and San Francisco, CA.

Monty worked many jobs throughout his lifetime. Monty owned his own personal business, Sierra Foundation repair for over 20 years. Monty and Judy also owned M & J Real Estate Inspections for about 20 years as well. Monty loved his previous and most recent job at Olin and Kelly Services for 8-10 years as Owners’ Rep, as well as several other construction companies. Monty was an avid fisherman & hunter and spent a lifetime with his children, wife, and grandkids, having numerous trips on the water. Monty won the Texas State Surfing Championship in 1974 in Galveston, TX. Monty and Judy have many fond memories of their surfing days.

Monty is preceded in death by his mother Jane Cornish Nuckols, father Virgil Grady Nuckols, and sister Linda Grace May. Monty is survived by his wife Judith Nuckols, brother, Virgil Grady Nuckols JR (Marilyn); daughter, Shanna Nuckols, son Heath Nuckols, granddaughter, Ashley Cultrera; grandson, Brevin Nuckols & grandson, Tristan Nuckols; along with several nieces and nephews. Monty was a faithful Christian and it was shown in his daily character and the love he showed for all. He is dearly loved by so many friends and family. He will be sorely missed by all those he touched.

A Celebration of Monty’s Life will be held at Brazos Pointe Fellowship on Saturday June 27, 2020 starting at 11:00am.
