You may have noted that Mike was preceded in death by his brother Roger. Roger died July 21, 2001. Their younger brother Randy died September 13, 2008. Their mother, Mrs. Demland, has lost all of her sons.

I know when my sister, Martha Jean Day Hallmark (married Danny Hallmark, Brazos class of 63)died at 51, my mother, Martha Day (dad had already died in 1987) was never the same. Losing a child is a grief that mom said, "can't be described."

Mike and I were good ol' pals in Elementary and Jr High, then as old friends sometimes do we drifted off in different directions. I remember living down the street at 1329 W. 10th for a while. I knew Mike and Roger, but really knew Mike a lot better because we were in Mrs. Hitts class together. I remember him as being one of the good guys in school that I enjoyed playing baseball with. My sympathy goes out to the family because I know that they miss his kind spirit.

Mike was one of a kind. Never knew him to have a negative attitude about anything or anyone. If he was your friend he was your friend forever. Everyone that knew him will never forget this kind, gentle man.

I had the privilege of being friends with Mike Sealy for most of my life. While classmates at Jane Long Elementary, Mike and I started our own magazine, the “American Scream Magazine”. It was mainly drawings and short horror stories including references to things like bloody eyeballs and knife wounds. (Kid’s stuff really, at least at that time.) We never actually printed or distributed multiple copies but our friends got a kick out of seeing what we had produced. When my dad got wind of what we were doing he insisted we put a stop to our efforts. Whenever Mike and I got together after that, we would joke about how we might have become one of America’s great publishing success stories if only (in Mike’s words) “Mr. Barnard had not shut down the presses”. I still visualize Mike laughing about it. We were friends again during high school and especially at Brazosport College. Our primary efforts (and fun) were as officers of the BC business fraternity. Mike was definitely Mr. BC, and students, professors, and members of the college administration all loved and respected him. I was glad to have shared with Mike some really great times during those years. Nearing graduation from BC, we seriously discussed rooming together at whatever four year college we were going to attend. My family wanted me to attend A&M. Mike’s family wanted him to attend UT. As you might suspect, Sharon had more influence than I did, and Mike went to UT and was forever loyal to his school. Mike and Sharon were a truly special couple and incredibly right for each other. I always considered Mike one of my closest friends and we stayed in contact until his death from cancer. I still miss Mike Sealy.

Mike Sealy, my best BOY friend.  He was such a sweet person who loved his family so much.  I have so many wonderful memories of him.  I still think of him often. I talked him into skipping school one day and several of our classmates went to the Houston Zoo. My Mom knew about it before we left and was ok with it because I was with him.  He always kept me grounded.  I will miss him until my last day on this earth.  Rest peacefully Mike Sealy until we meet again.
