Jimmie Waldrep

Jimmie Waldrep

Jimmie Ealson Waldrep, age 66, of Texas City, passed away June 7, 2017 at home after fighting Mesotheleoma cancer, for more than a year. He loved to fish and hunt. His early days were spent in Sheridan, where his father worked for Shell. His dad later transferred to Freeport where Jimmie graduated from Brazosport High School in 1969. 'Once a Marine, always a Marine' was something Jimmie endorsed. He was also known for doing things his way and on his own schedule. When his oncologist informed us that it was time for hospice, Jimmie didn't give up; he packed up and moved on to his next posting, in less than 5 days. He was a 'Jack-of-many-trades,' from mechanic to construction, to ranching, to refinery work and more; and he would use his skills to help family and friends, 'It's ok, Uncle Jimmie has a saw'. He served as an EMT and fireman at various jobs and volunteered when off duty. He rode a motorcycle trike with the Patriot Guard riders, and two chapters of Triadics Trikers claimed him as their leader. His family and friends meant a lot to him and they will sorely miss him.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gail Waldrep; daughter, Monica Waldrep of Texas City; grandson, William Rush; daughter, Christy Waldrep Youngberg and husband Chuck of Bryan; grandchildren, Aurora Saunders and Anthony Saunders; ex-wife Carol Couey of Teague; son, Jimmy Couey of Teague; granddaughter Alexandria Couey; mother, Margaret Azine Waldrep of Fred; brother, Harvey Waldrep Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Lake Jackson; brother, Gary Waldrep and wife, Colleen of Lake Jackson; four nieces, four nephews; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Waldrep Sr. and infant brother, Dennis Wayne Waldrep.

A Memorial Service will be presented by Pastor Clay Bowers on July 1, 2017, 10:30am at:

Northside Baptist Church
2801 N Logan St (25th Street)
Texas City, Texas 77590.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to cancer research.
