Rita Hart passed away suddenly Sunday, June 28, 2009, in Austin, Texas. She was born April 8, 1951, in Mobile, Alabama. Rita moved to Freeport, Texas, and graduated from Brazosport High School. In 1973 she began her law enforcement career with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office as a telecommunications operator until she retired in 2000. She graduated from Brazosport College with an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice and Math. Rita was a Master Peace Officer. She moved to Austin, Texas, and married Roy Hart on August 5, 2000. At the time of her death, she was a Deputy Constable for the Travis County Constable Precinct 2.

Rita was preceded in death by her father, Evis Williams and a sister, Tammy Rozon.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Hart; mother and stepfather, Hazel and Robert Rozon Sr.; brothers, Gary Williams and Bobby Rozon; sister, Debbie Taquette; two stepsons, Jason and wife, Miranda Hart, and William Hart; three grandchildren, Jazz, Avery and Mason with another on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009, at Restwood Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Restwood Memorial Park. Rita Williams was in a number of my classes from early elementary school through high school. She was always a very quiet person, and she kept to herself a lot. But when she laughed, her joy was contageous and her smile was radiant. God bless her memory....
