I don't know of any of us that attended BHS that were not in some way connected to Mr. Slade. His morning announcements...we always knew they were coming..I can hear his voice now..cracking...Also, constantly roaming the halls to see what is going on. I think our memories of high school are so pleasant because we had people like Mr. Slade in administration. He could relate to us and yet he demanded the respect he deserved. Everything he did was for our protection and a hope for our future.
I loved Mr. Slade. I did the "quote for the day" and a prayer. If I prayed too long, I could hear the footsteps of Mr. Slade coming down the hall to cut me off. He was such a fun guy to have as our Assistant Principal.
