Angela Gilbert (Walden)

Thanks for the name on that pic Donna, I couldn't think of it, I think my age is getting to me, LOL.

Has anyone thought of inviting the families of the deceased to the Family Day? Especially if we are planting trees in their memory. I should be up there around Wed evening(we are leaving here after I get off work that morning). We could plant the trees on Sat. maybe since the actual reception isn't until that night, would be nice to something together that day as well. I could take the pictures of the event.

Patti, I hope you have gotten all the addresses I sent you, I sent some more today. I figured you could use some help with the searches. Hopefully they are all correct. I did get a hold of a few by phone yesterday, maybe they will check it out.

I also found the JSB Alumni site, and I posted all the information on the reunion as well as asking them to come here to add to their profile and to keep up to date on the events.

Terrible news guys. A young boy that just graduated from Battle Saturday drowned in the river in Mendota this afternoon. His name was Jacob Tyler Bowers.

I think that the tree/tress should be dedicated to the four classmates of ours that have gone on...AND to ALL those who have walked the halls of JSB that have gone on also, like the young boy who passed away last week, and even my own uncle was killed in a car wreck in 1969 when he was a Senior @ JSB.

I have been checking out dedication/memorial plaques on line this morning. It looks like we can purchase one for about 100.00, that is with s&h...and would have plenty enough time for it to get here before our reunion...I will also check at some of the local memorial headstone places around Elizabethton/J.City and in Bristol if everyone is ok with that.

Just out of curiosity, if we are going to do the tree/trees as a memorial, what exactly is the plaque for? Where is it going to go?

Kathy Millard (Elliott)

Angela..I was thinking that we could have a sign/plaque with something like...The Class of 1988 would like to remember their classmates who are no longer with them...and then list their names and dates. I was thinking that we could place it somewhere near the tree. I don't know if we should or shouldn't do a plaque, but I thought that way other classes and/or people would know why that tree was planted.

Kathy, as these are high school students, I would go more for a sign, something that is a little less expensive than a plaque if it is going on/around the tree/trees, you never know what some drunk high school students will do when bored(LOL-we wouldn't know anything about that). I would go more for a plaque if it was going to go inside the high school. I think it is an awesome idea, I just think we need to be practical.

There are very nice stones like Shannon Morefield was talking about...smaller than you would put in a cemetary, that you can have words etched on. Those could not be easily messed up if someone decided to be destructive. I think that would be a good idea as well. Thanks for that Shannon. This is definitley something that can be tweaked by us as the time comes to purchase it. But hopefully no one would try to destroy it. Who knows though :) But Battle does have something like a "garden" that the student council take care of. We could plant the tree and put the plaque, sign, rock near there, and it could be taken care of simultaneously by the student council. Even those of us who live in the area could tend to it from time to time.

I was thinking that at this point, we are still waiting to hear from the school. I asked Deanna if she could talk to the school officals since she has a daughter that goes to Battle. She said that she will be up there this coming week for cheerleading camp and would speak with Jeff. Jeff might say that the sign/plaque would get destroyed by the students or maybe it will be a maintance issue. I am glad that everyone seems to like the idea so the next step is to get the okay from Battle.

It has been 20 years to the day since we graduated!!

June 10, 1988

I cannot believe how quickly time has gone by.

WOW.......that is something!!!! It seems like only yesterday that we were kids!!! Where does the time go???? HAPPY 20YR GRADUATION DAY EVERYBODY!!!!

Patti Silcox (Hubbard)

I can't believe it's been 20 years either. When we were in elementary and high school, it seems like time stood still. But now, it just flies by. Wow, I feel old. :(

I remember when summer break used to feel like it was 3 years long. By the end of summer I was practically *excited* to get back to school. That feeling usually lasted about 2 days, however.

Now I look at the calendar and say, "Sheez, 2008 is already half over. Didn't it just start?"

don't feel old Patti! feel.. like a fine wine, aged to perfection!

06/11/08 08:23 AM #132

Patti Silcox (Hubbard)

Summer break was the best!!! Of course back then, we actually got 3 whole months off and it really seemed like a long time, now it's barely even 2 months.

And as far as feeling old.....we all sure do look pretty good for nearing 40 don't we!!

06/11/08 08:23 AM #133

I could use some wine right now.....a whole bottle would do!!! :)

Shannon Vickers (Eldreth)

I will be drinking wine tonight, as a ritual of the past two years, while watching the VERY LAST EPISODE...booohooo :( of the show Men In Trees. I am so sad! Okay, now you all KNOW I am crazy. LOL!!!

Just looked at the missing persons list and realized I know where some of those people are but it is at their work. So if you know someone that works there

Ronnie Stout-Bristol Compressors
Jamie Marsh-Food city in Blountville
Angie Blevins-was on my friends list on my space, I will try to get in touch with her.
Marty Tester-Told Chuck Cumbow to tell him, he talks to him and Dennis does too.
Sherri Barrnett-Works at Wexford House in Kpt.
Hope Collins-Saw her at the gym a couple months ago, I know how to find her I think.

Oh yeah, Angie Leonard was working at Country Corner Mtk ou on Benhams rd. where I grew up. I will see if I can get a hold of her.

Andy Mountcastle-Manager at Road Runner Mkt on Volunteer Pky. next to Donut Hut.
Jody Gobble-I will call his sister and tell her to tell him & Hope Collins.
I called Jamie Hughes & Renee (Clark) Hughes and left them a messgage.
The last time I saw Missy Burke she was in the photo lab at exit 7 walmart, if you happen to see her in there.
I have ran into several of JSB people (to remain nameless, lol) when I worked as a nurse at Sullivan County Jail, but these are the ones that I know about for now.
