John Flynn
Ray Hennessy and I met at St. John the Baptist grade school many years ago. He was one of the tall guys as was I so usually we sat next to each other in class. During confirmation, when we were in sixth grade Ray and I were horsing around in class, and we heard the clickity clack of the nuns rosary beads that they wore, coming down the isle. Knowing that we were about to get whacked, Ray and I ducked and the taped yardstick struck Ross McKee's new confirmation watch (Ross sat behind us), and exploded into a million pieces. Ray and I looked at each other and started to laugh uncontrollably. The kind of laugh that you know you should be serious, but just couldn't control. Ross however, did not think it was funny which only made matters worse. Ray and I by this time were doubled over laughing so hard, while getting whacked repetetedly with the yardstick. I have told this story countless times over the years and laughed again each time. Ray was a great guy and great athlete. I will miss his laugh and his huge smile. Like Bonnie said, he was one of the great one's. RIP Ray, and save my seat next to you so we can laugh again.... John Flynn.
