James A. ROBECK May 6, 1932 ~ January 20, 2011 James Andrew Robeck was born in Everett, WA to the Rev. A.E. and Myrtle Robeck. He attended school in Aberdeen, WA, graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1950. He attended Grays Harbor Community College and Seattle Pacific (College) University, where he played on the varsity basketball team. He graduated in 1955 with a B.A. in Education. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years, one in Alaska. He returned to begin his career as a teacher and coach at Evergreen High School (1956-1973) in the Highline School District. In 1963, he earned an M.S. in Physical Education from the
University of Washington. He completed his career at Highline High School where he coached the varsity basketball team (1973-1991). After retiring in 1993, Jim enjoyed travel, golf, gardening, hiking, running, and getting together with friends. He experienced kidney failure in 1998 and then received kidney dialysis treatments for 13 years, allowing him to continue to enjoy some of these activities. He also served as a Patient Representative on the Regional Council for Northwest Kidney Centers. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol (Smith) Robeck; daughter, Susan Peters (Bill); sisters Kathryn Sundquist (Don) and Eunice Robeck of Tacoma; as well as brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, and their families. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at Lake Burien Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 30th at 3:00 p.m. Remembrances may be directed to Northwest Kidney Center Foundation, P.O.
