Dick Rule

Dick Rule

Richard B. Rule II, 67, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at his home in Butte.

Dick was born April 8, 1946, to Richard B. and Bessie H. Rule in Butte where he graduated from Butte High School in 1964, and Montana Tech in 1968.

He is survived by his children, Juliette Rule of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Regan B. Rule of Columbus, Wis.; his grandchildren, Madeleine (Mado) and Ryan Rule of Columbus, Wis.; along with his sister, Jeanne Rule of Butte; and his very special friend, Terry Streit of Butte. Dick was preceded in death by his son Todd Mathew in 1984.

In his later years, Dick spent the majority of his time preparing tax returns for his clients and volunteering in various roles at Tech with the Digger Athletic Association. He seemed to greatly enjoy this slower pace after years of running the rat race nurturing a career in sales that afforded him the experience of global travel, but often took much of his time. He loved to share tales of those barnstorming days nearly as much as he liked talking sports, especially Digger sports. We, and all who knew him, will miss his boisterous personality and booming voice. When Dick was in the room, the whole room knew. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

An interment ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Mount Moriah Cemetery. This will be open to those who wish to attend and pay final respects. Friends are welcome to join the family from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Montana Tech HPER Complex.

The family extends their warmest regards and thoughts for those who worked with Dick at Tech and looked out for him, thank you.

Memorials are suggested for the Digger Athletic Association, the Montana State Food Bank Network, and BSI Nonprofit of Helena.

After many years of lost contact, several years ago Dick started showing up at the same places as I as a result of his work with the Montana Food Bank Network. It was a most welcome reunion and I am sad to say, far too short.
