I remember eating lunch with Larry in junior high. I thought he was the most amazing person I ever met.  He could take the cap off a bottle of pop with his teeth and he could drink it down with one swallow.

I know Larry went on to other neat things, but I will never forget what he could do in junior high.

Carol Merrett (Gilbert)

I met Larry in grade school at Webster-Garfield.  He was the fastest runner at tht time that I had ever met.  He pestered us girls so much that we would chase after him at recess and then he would stand on top of the hill in the playground and mock the way we ran.  We were never successful in catching him.  I think that he even out ran the boys.

His Dad and Mom owned the local 'slaughter house' where we went on a field trip at least twice in our six years at WG.  They piled us in the back of a big meat truck, closed the doors which made it darker than dark, and took off with us bouncing around for the few miles it took us to get to the facility.  We girls were screaming and the boys were laughing as they thought it was great fun.  When we arrived, we were given the tour.  What I remember most was learning about making hot dogs; you don't want to know the details.  However, we were treated to lunch after the tour and the hot dogs were delicious.

Lost contact with Larry when we went to Jr. High.  However, I can believe Don's account of his toughness as he was one tough kid.  Carol Merrett Gilbert
