It is so great to see how all of you are doing. I remember how upsetting it was when my parents told us we were moving to Houston the summer after 9th grade. Even though I did not graduate from Caldwell, I still have such great memories of my time there! I went to college in Houston and got a management information systems degree, got my first real job in Dallas at Sprint, then moved to Little Rock with a consulting job a year later. I started getting my MBA there and met Michael (my husband) there - and have been begging to move back to Texas ever since. I have been working at the same insurance company (BCBS) for 13 years now (wow, that makes me feel old!). We have two kids, Grace and Lucas, that keep me running like crazy between school, soccer, basketball, swimming... and one 12 year old golden retriever, Jagman.
There are so many great memories - lots of time spent on the track and in the gym for sure. Remember running around the neighborhood in jr high and lots of people cutting through ditches and yards? Didn't we have to listen to the bus drivers tape (Air Supply maybe?) before we could play any music on the bus for away games and track meets. eating lunch in jr high on that driveway outside the science room - eating from the vending machines or from Sonic on lucky days that my older sister brought food. Getting my first and only pops from the jr high sience teacher. Riding calves - can't remember whose house that was at. Spending lots of time at Steph's house - paddling the boat in the pond. Tons of fun with the FBC youth group, at summer camp, weekend trips, New Braunsfels. The 8th grade dance was fun. Moving into the new high school was so 'big' back then. Balloon fights on Halloween night downtown. Wrapping houses. Trying to recite the Preamble for extra credit. Sounds like I should be glad to have missed Mrs. Taylor's senior english class??? 9th grade spanish class was incredibly hard at the time, but still use some of it now to help kids with their spanish work. Being at Christy's house after a Friday night football game - especially if we won - there was some energy there. Spending time with Mary, Lillian, Steph, Christy, and others. Riding on the back of Nanette's motorcycle was insane. fun times for sure. Like others have said, you don't appreciate how great growing up in Caldwell was until you move off and grow up a bit.
