After graduating I attended Dalton Jr for 2 years. I enrolled in the CETA program and worked at the Gordon County Fire Dept. After DJC I enlisted in The Army and served as a M.P. Not straying too far ,my permenant duty station was Ft Stewart Near Savannah. I recieved numerous awards and was M.P. of the year in 1982. After my commitment I was Honorably discharged and returned to my hometown Cleveland,Ohio. Seeking new challenges I went to work for a 500 room downtown hotel. I advanced through the hotel quickley holding various positions including Front Desk Supervisor, Asst. Banquet Manager and Bistro Manager. Seeking advancement I took the position of Asst. General Manager at the Envoy Inn Motels in Columbus, Ohio. While employeed there I met my First wife who was a lingerie model. We moved to Philadelphia, Pa where I took a Job at The Gregg Conference Center of The American College for The Marriott Corp. In Bryn Mawr. I held multiple postions there from Night Manager, Executive Housekeeper to Rooms Division Manager. I was married while living there and was blessed with my daughter Kelly in 1989. After a few years we decided to move closer to our family's and returned to Cleveland. I worked for The Radisson Plaza Hotel as The Front Office Manager and Executive Committee Member. The Hotel was under contruction and opening proved to be difficult. Alas the hotel did not meet corporate goals and was sold to Embassy Suites. During my time there I became interested in contruction and ultimately decided to change professions. I went to work as a Carpenters Apprentice. We built and remodeled offices and warehouse commercially and built garages and additions residentially. We expanded into interior decorating including painting, staining and wallpapering. Using my contacts I started sub-contracting my own work, later becoming a contractor. Unfortunately during this new phase I was Divorced. Thankfully my daughter and I remained close. Now mostly doing interior design I work with a small crew that does painting and wallpapering for a residential builder of upscale homes, occasionally taking side jobs for friends and family. Unwilling to totaly leave the hospitality field I work Friday nights as a bartender for a friend at his Bar And Grill. Recently I remodeled my own garage turning it into a half woodworking shop, half sports bar. Last April, after living together for 6 years, I married a women that I had dated nearly 25 years before. A traditional Vegas wedding. We live in a 4 bedroom colonial in a Cleveland suburb 1/4 from Lake Erie. My Daughter will be a Sophmore at Baldwin Wallace College this fall. 2 years ago I stopped playing softball and competitve basketball due to a knee injury. I had good run, won some championships and made a lot of friends. Now its H O R S E in the backyard and golf once a week. My wife Mary Ann works at The Cleveland Clinic as a Nurse Manager and has the travel bug. We often visit friends and family in Pittsburg,New York,D.C.Cincinatti,Chicago,Boston and Houston. Our Favorite place to vacation is San Diego (3 times). We've been to Nashville twice and like that a lot too. I have been to The US Open in Pinehurst,Oakmont and Torrey Pines. Other favorite spots are L.A. , Tiajuanna, Cancun and of course Las Vegas. We are avid sports fans and have held Browns season tickets for over 15 years. We also enjoy The Cavs,Indians and Ohio State. Our Large extended family keeps us busy, but I often reflect on my years in Calhoun.I only went to CHS for my senior year and DJC for 2 but I have many good memories and miss my old friends. I wish I would have remained closer to many of you (not just the girls). I never thought of myself as nostolgic but but living in Calhoun helped me become who I am today (bad or good) God Bless you all. I hope you read this before my warped personality erases it. Thanks for the memories. Go Jackets !
In My 1 year I played (watched a lot) Varsity Basketball and was News Editor. Mr O'Conner refered to me as The Black Irishman. It took me awhile but I finally beat Mr Purcell at Ping Pong. Coach Walters and his wife along with The Nances and John Meyers were my favorite Neighbors. Something you don't know Barbara Brackman stayed with us when her family first moved here before they were settled. Mr and Mrs Herron are some of the kindest people I have ever met.Something you did know I was a giant hotdog and concieted.
