Our classmate Richard (Dick) McCarthy could use your help.  Dick has a rare cancer called Esthesioneuroblastoma which has had approximately 1,000 cases identified since 1924.

 I just tried going to that web site but it said, it isn't there any more.

Hope all is well with you. I talked with Dick on the phone last year before our class reuion. He didn't mention anything about his cancer . We had a great visit.

Is there any other way to make a connection with that site?

If you just go to the upper right hand box on that website and enter his name, you will find his page.  It is a bit confusing, but I found his page yesterday.

Bob, thanks for the info on Dick. I sent my donation in and wish all the best to Dick's family and a fast recoverey to him. I've had major surgery and know what he and his family are going through. Support from family and friends are the best medicine.

Our friend Dick McCarthy just called me on the phone.  We had a nice 30 minute chat. 

He asked be to compose a note to all of you ( he does not have a computer  to access the caclassof65 web site).

 So here it is!

To all my fellow Canadaigua Academy class of 1965 members, I want to thank you for your kindness, your prayers and your monetary support.  I really, really appreciate all of you.

Dick and I communicate from time to time and I will keep you informed of his progress.

Bob , thanks for the update. Keep us posted. I talked with Dick last Spring before our class reuion and that was before he had the bad news about his health. I am so happy he is headed in the right direction and we could help.

Dear Classmates:

Today I had lunch with Dick McCarthy and his wife Pam. We laughed and reminisced about many of you and I was able to show Dick pictures of our old hometown taken when I was back last year for the reunion. Dick has experienced a rough time of health since last November, however, he has a good attitude as he awaits results of his treatments since surgery. Many of us are fortunate and if we can help Dick & Pam overcome their incurred medical bills it would be a wonderful gift for them. See Bob Searles earlier message to make a helpful donnation. Dave Holcomb, it was nice of you to reach out to Dick.  Thank you for mentioning my earlier post for making a donation to help Dick with his medical bills and living expenses.  This Thursday (6/29) is Dick's birthday.  It would be a wonderful gift, if everyone who is able, could make a donation.  I bypassed the web site and sent a birthday card via USPS.

Hello all,  I'm going to try this again.  Back in March I attemted to post a message and update everyone about a previous message.  In March I received a phone call from Bob McCarthy, Dick's brother.  He informed that Dick had succumbed to his cancer.  Dick fought like hell and hated the fact he had cancer.  I communicated with is wife via text msg. Pam informed that hepassed peacefully in his bed. I miss Dick.  As I write his I'm getting emotional so I will close. Please, all of you stay safe and healthy during these days of COVID-19.
