If I can't find the key...I'll just jump behind the bar and free-pour away! Not like I wasn't behind each of those bars for many, many years!

That's part of being a "Rockstar", always walk in like you own the joint...usually then no one asks questions and just let's you do what you want. I am sure I still know half the staff there anyways.

Elton, unfortunately will not be able to pick up any of the waitresses (as was customary for him each summer back in the day) as he is taking that walk down the aisle prior to the reunion. So sorry E.

If I start to bus tables or ask any of you for a drink order...just ignore me, it is kind of in my blood after so many years there.

Speaking of rock stars...John Mazzucco's band "the Limbs" (which is ironic because its just him) will be performing at cedars on June 6th. If you have not seen him play, please go to landofthelimbs.com and watch the live performances....you will not believe that one person is making that much ROCK. Anybody interested?

and john...this kind of advertisement is not free.....send a check our buy me an adult beverage on June 6th......

Michele Stack (Reed)

Hey Tim,

I took your advice and checked John and his Limbs out online...can't believe it! Who knew Class of '88 generated so much talent! (Well, I knew it and you knew it...) I must say, John is so good, I don't think we need Asif (wink, wink) and anyone else. Asif, he's got your drums covered, baby! I would love to see Limbs at Cedars, I can think of a few other people who would be interested, as well.

That Limbs date on June 6 sounds like a good one. Good Lord, I haven't been in Cedars in YEARS! As for the band, 80's songs would be just about right. Most of the stuff I listen to now is indie stuff. It took a looooonnng time to wean myself off of my Def Leppard/Aerosmith/G'N'R diet. I'll send you a list, Asif.

Lauren...we are approaching our "40 and fabulous" time of life. Maybe since Myrtle Beach has been held off so far, we can at least plan to celebrate THAT in 2010!!! (We still must try our get together before that, our little group down south)!

Asif...Lots of Bon Jovi, baby!!! and...Journey, a little poison, some Def Leppard and Whitesnake will make me smile!

05/15/08 05:27 PM #49

Dominic Strollo

Asif...definitely ditto on what Melanie said (Bon Jovi, Bon Jovi, and how about some Bon Jovi?)...and just a thought, but how about "only the good die young" by Billy Joel in honor of our classmates that are unfortunately no longer with us.

Now I just have to ask the next question... is everyone bringing their spouses? Not that anything would go on of course, but some things might be misunderstood in the course of a drunken evening.

Just an FYI: On everybody's profile, you all have the option of checking a box that enables ONLY logged on classmates to view your info that you post. If you do not check this box, ANYBODY coming across this site can view your info without being involved with this site! Also, you must log in to post a message here on this forum, BUT as it stands now the forum postings are viewable by ANYONE coming across this site.(just come to this site without logging in and see what you can see) Maybe Checcone or Elias can make this forum viewable by logged in members ONLY. Not that anyone plans on posting anything questionable or anything of course, but maybe everything we all say should not be open to the whole public to read that's all. Just an observation I thought I would share with ya'll.

Bring my spouse?!?!?....that is assuming that I am still married come November....besides, that would be a total buzz killer....if I bring her, I'll be the same boring, don't say a word, non-sociable, no personality idiot I was 20 years ago....she, too, is a former Tippy employee (how we met) that will be nagging me all night, starting at about 6:05pm, "can we go yet?" and I couldn't possibly bring a Fitch girl to a Canfield reunion!...I still say what happens at the 20th, stays at the 20th!

P.S. If you haven't figured it out yet, I am completely full of B.S. and I take nothing seriously....it's those damn voices in my head that make me the way I am!!!

05/20/08 02:17 PM #53

Melanie Rogers

No spouse coming with me, but then again, there isn't one! Come stag and join my world...it's not too bad!

05/20/08 02:23 PM #54

Where is this button on our profiles for members only? I don't want anyone else to see my crap...that happened on one of those classmates sites and I started getting questionable characters telling me when they'd be in town so that we could meet...yikes! I didn't see the button...where's the button, dammit!! (Likes me privacy)!! On another note, it's sort of wierd being one of only a few who truly cannot GET into any mischievous trouble at the reunion. (Not much fun, though)! Ref...Dom's post!!

stick with me Mel.....I've been a BAAAAADDDD BOOOOYYYY this year! Trouble WILL find me! It lurks in dark corners, and I know EVERY hiding place in that club!

05/20/08 02:49 PM #56

Dominic Strollo

Is this going to be a cash bar?....if so, I still remember some of the member's numbers so we can put it on their tab....wait a moment...John Elias, aren't you still a member?....just ignore all those Jack on the rocks on your tab....I know nothing....

Mike Koenig is correct. You can block outside viewers from accessing your profile. Click on the "Edit Your Profile" link on the left menu and then check the appropriate box at the bottom of the screen.

*tap, tap the mic* Is this thing on??? haha

OK! Before the band begins, I am going to rant for a second while I have your attention! Hahahaaaa

(OMG! I feel like Carey!!!)

Anthony Schleef coined a phrase in his profile of a high school "social class" he called "The Effectively Nonexistent". Well, I must admit! I IMMEDIATELY identified with that stereo-type! (Whenever ANYONE from this website writes that they remember me, I am so GENUINELY and SINCERELY surprised! haha) I was a wallflower and not a "joiner" of cliques, sports or honor societies!

But now, thanks to Sharron Spears pictures (which were SO GREAT! Please check her updated profile out!!) I have PROOF to my Most- Fantabulousness Effectiveness of Non-Existance::::

I, the Non-Existent Formerly Known As Jacci Vrabel, is the "??" in the front row of the second grade picture of Mrs Amos class! Yup!! hahahaaa Front row and the ONLY student unidentifiable??? From DECADES ago? WHERE DO I PICK UP MY TROPHY!? haha

I saw the picture and this funny "tingly sensation" occurred... deja vu... I do not OWN that photo as I have been through a kazillion moves, a house fire AND a hurricane, yet.. that pic seemed so... "familiar".. ha

But I saw the brown disco collared dress, the clashing grey earth shoes with knee highs and I knew of only ONE MOTHER who would dress her child in THAT classical outfit on class picture day. MINE!!! haha

haha// Sorry to take up so much space, but I really thought that was a funny story!

Hallo '88 Cards,
Thanks Tim for posting a heads up for my 6/6 show, I appreciate it. It'd be great to see all, some, or even one of you at that show. I'm still unsure about my attendance at the reunion at this point, but recent phone conversations with the good Dr. Khan & Mr. Oldfield got me all thinking about how incredibly surreal it's gonna be... I used to caddy at Tippy w/ Haynes & Kaschak during the misery of middle school... even weirder...

For those of you who think we are getting old...

A couple of weekends ago my assistant at work said he was going out that night to see a local band he liked play at a local bar (called Rockstarz of course). He then tells me that they are actually the opening act for some guy who was the lead singer of a band called Ratt...my assistant is 2 years younger than us and never heard of Ratt...I basically said are you kidding me? I then invited myself and went not knowing what to expect. The opening bands were very good; even pointing me out in the crowd saying (jokingly) that they could tell the guy with the Bon Jovi shirt and Bon Jovi hat wants them to get off the stage and for Stephen Pearcy to come out. My assistant then asks me who Stephen Pearcy was...I had to tell him that he was the lead singer of the band he never heard of called Ratt.

Anyways, Stephen Pearcy still tours with Ratt, but when he does small clubs he plays with another band called the Ratt Bastards. The good: they sounded GREAT and put on a phenomenal show! I was front and center of course. Stephen Pearcy actually stuck the microphone in my face several times and I was screaming the lyrics (I wouldn't call it singing...I have no musical talent). The bad: I am expecting to see the Stephen Pearcy that we knew in the mid 80's...Stephen Pearcy looked like he was REALLY OLD!!! (pics are on my MySpace page).

At least at the end of the show my assistant (who stayed in the back and didn't want to be in the front w/ me) said he knew one song...Round and Round of course.

I showed the pics to my brother-in-law Michael Hudock (CHS class of 86) and his comment was "Coming soon, Stephen Pearcy to an Assisted Living Center hosting karaoke parties on the Wii". Could be true in a few more years, but I had a blast.

I took video of 4 songs but didn't realize that you could change the video settings on my (not mine, the company's) digital camera...needless to say a 4 minute song is nearly half a Gigabyte....WAY too large to post on MySpace, so unless someone knows how to make an .avi file a lot smaller, you can't see the "live" show.

It sure makes you feel young to look at him, but you also realize if he looks that old...just how old do we look?

Just thought that was an interesting story I'd share since it was a band from our generation...and I'm still a hair metal (or as the good Dr. Kahn put it: rock-qua Net) freak.

Scott,

Some good ideas...I think we should come up with a top list of songs people want to hear.

I totally agree on all of our fellow classmates. I personally did not attend the 10th, but for the wrong reasons. I took HS very personally and figured that the people that I still kept in contact with were the only ones that I needed to see. I never had a certain group that I fit in with...I would at times hang w/ the popular crowd because of sports or yearbook staff, etc...more or less as a wannabe. Mostly I hung with the guys that are to this day my best friends in life. I blamed others for my own shortcomings, but now know that it wasn't the fault of anyone but myself. I was the insecure, immature one just jealous of others. I always wanted to be noticed by trying to compete to keep up with everyone by one-upping someone else materialistically or however...what a jack-ass perspective that was. Just recently (the past few years...more like the past year), I know that I have no one to blame but myself. I hold nothing against any of you and have found that no matter what, we ARE classmates...somewhat of a family. Past is past and we were all immature to a point. I am overwhelmed by how many of you that I have spoken to through this site (mostly because of my ramblings to amuse myself), but everyone that I have spoken to, regardless of status or whatever, is a truly decent person and am ecstatic to be in contact with all of you once again. If any one of you landed on my doorstep in FL, you would be welcomed, no questions asked.

I have made it a priority to come to the reunion and will be there...looking forward to see ALL of you!

As for giving back to CHS...gotta say, not too fond of that idea if your basis is the band tower. I think we received one of the best educations in the country. Not on knowledge of coursework, but the values we seem to all share...we learned the most from interacting w/ one another than from any classroom. Something definitely lacking in the school systems elsewhere in the country. If I had kids, I would hate to put them through the FL school system seeing what they put out these days. So in a nutshell, it was our society that gave us the education...our parents, churches, whatever...not just CHS. I don't think they are hurting for money...also can get to be considered a bit political which I don't think we need to begin to debate upon.

I am also not that fond of inviting teachers. Some I totally have fond memories of and would love to see them, but I would much rather spend my time associating with all of you...that is the sole reason I am coming. There is also one I have complete and utter zero respect for and fear of a confrontation, which would be totally out of place, but I have no problem speaking my mind (I think you all know that by now). I would hate myself for doing it, but I unfortunately know I would. I try not to hate anyone, but unfortunately there are very few on this list...mostly those family members associated with my infamous a-hole Uncle Lenny and his associates, but there is also one faculty member that falls in that category as well.

Regardless, if the class decides otherwise, I am totally willing to go along with that decision.

Don't mean to sway anyone one way or another...just being honest here...blatant honesty is sometimes my biggest problem.

There was something called "The Fun Bunch"?

A sheep was set loose in the school?

A band tower was cut down????

I couldnt have been absent on ALL of those days... could I??? haha

(Some good and interesting ideas, though, Scott!)

06/02/08 06:56 PM #63

Debbie DeSantis

Yes, Jacs ... there's a "fun bunch" ... and there has been one every year at CHS for ages. It's a tradition.
A tradition that unfortunately excludes many students.

I am not aware of any band tower either ... and after all these years I hate to say it ... but I don't care about it one way or another.

I have let stray dogs and cats in the doors of CHS plenty of times ... no sheep though. Why? I haven't a clue. I thought it was hilarious at the time though. I assure you.

As for inviting teachers ... I won't be there so it won't affect me either way however ... considering it has been twenty years since we have roamed the halls of CHS, I would hope and pray that any hard feelings between any students and teachers or classmates and other classmates would be long forgotten or at least set aside for the sake of our reunion.

06/02/08 11:04 PM #64

Cheryl Bowen (Cutsinger)

I've been reading all this and trying to follow along. I remember the "Fun Bunch", but the band tower was cut down?? I don't remember that & I was in the band. I also don't remember the sheep being set loose in the school. As for HS, I do remember my biggest priority was not getting noticed. I also remember getting a world class education & not knowing it. So, I agree with Scott. I think that it is a great idea to give a gift back to CHS. I'm not sure they need a band tower. I was there over Memorial Day weekend & I remember seeing one. But its not uncommon for a graduating class to give something as a parting gift. Does anyone remember if we did that? I'm pretty sure that we didn't. So in addition to my 2 cents, Scott, I'll pledge $50 of my own.

06/02/08 11:26 PM #65

Debbie DeSantis

I am not aware of us donating any parting gift.
I would suggest that prior to us taking up or asking for donations ... we should have something in mind.
Perhaps a plaque dedicated to all the teachers and staff that have enriched our lives.

I agree with Scott ... although I am not a teacher I am very involved with my kids' education and their schools. They, like I have been blessed with fantastic teachers!
They make a significant difference in our lives whether we realized it at the time or not.

Maybe the reunion committee could bring this up during one of their meetings?

06/03/08 04:20 PM #66

Cheryl Bowen (Cutsinger)

But...I think the one thing that we have all realized by catching up with each other is that we had a GREAT education. We may not have realized it then, but I know that having kids and working in the schools have made me realize it now. And being a teacher myself, I know how much it means to have all your hard work appreciated. I agree with Debbie that we need to have a plan, but instead of a plaque that will sit on a wall is there something that we could donate that would benefit the students? I know that there are not as many needs at CHS as there are at other schools, but there must be something we could give. Maybe even a donation to a scholarship fund for a CHS student. Its just a thought.

06/03/08 05:20 PM #67

Michael Koenig

Wow, This forum has really been heating up lately! I love it. Just to let ya'll know, It was brought up in the reunion meetings about some sort of donation back to CHS. A couple people brought up something that was called "Rentovating the Roost" or something like that. Apparently it is something that we all could donate to and it helps the School system. A few members of the committee were still looking into that and any other avenues before bringing this up to everyone but I'm glad to see that there are others that also have this on their thoughts. I will make sure that this subject gets brought up again at the next meeting. Those are already some good ideas for ways to donate back, so keep thinking about that and we will try to post up about suggestions and then you all can participate with your ideas. This is great to see more and more people taking part in this forum. Keep it up!!***** BY THE WAY, THE PLAN IS TO STILL GO TO DOWNTOWN YOUNGSTOWN TO CEDARS THIS FRIDAY, SO IF AVAILABLE, THIS WILL BE A NICE MINI PRE-REUNION.

06/03/08 07:57 PM #68

Debbie DeSantis

Cheryl ... excellent idea! (I can still hear your brother calling you Missy!)
Brian ... I don't think anyone on here is debating necessarily ... just voicing some opinions. :-)
It's interesting to see the variations of feelings and how high school has affected us be it positively or negatively.

I do think that the majority of the teachers we had were good and had their best intentions in mind while teaching us.
I learned being in college what it meant to have a professor that just didn't care if you were there or not!

Mike ... if you would, please keep us posted as to whether or not we will be making some sort of contribution to CHS? Thanks!

Anyone have a teacher that they really liked and learned a great deal from?
For me it was Mr. Costello and Mr. Bova.
Costello is incredibly intelligent and literally knew something about everything. He told me time and again to keep reaching for what I am aiming for because one day it will be within my grasp ... and he was right.
Bova kept me on the right path ... always.
Looking back it's nice to know that I had teachers that genuinely cared.
