Troy Lee Cross, 81, of Eastland, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, November 10 at 10:00 A.M. at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas.  Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Edwards Funeral Home.  Interment followed at Eastland Cemetery.

Troy was born in Flatwood, Texas on September 22 to Johnny Arthur Cross and Martha Herring Cross.  He graduated from Carbon High School in 1949.  He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.  He married Betty Reynolds on September 3, 1955 at the First Christian Church with Reverend Roy Farmer officiating.  Troy and Betty had three children, Tina Annette (Cross) Gilbert, Robert Bryan Cross and Nancy June (Cross) Wilson.

Troy spent his life in construction working for R. M. Sneed construction in Eastland, Texas; Lock Construction in Midland, Texas; and Pumpco, Inc. in Giddings, Texas.  He always enjoyed working with the youth in 4-H and spent time working with the Boy Scouts in Midland.  Troy liked helping those around him; he was always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed.

Troy and Betty were united with the Lone Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church in Kokomo, Texas on December 17, 1960 by Elder James E. Robertson, Jr.  In later years, he moved his membership to the Cisco Primitive Baptist church where he was ordained as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Arthur Cross, and his mother, Martha Herring Cross.

He is survived by his wife Betty Cross; children, Tina and Bruce Gilbert; Bryan Cross; Nancy and Allen Wilson; grandchildren, Shandy and Steve Monty, Mandy and David Allison, Alisha and Gabe Tucker, Jendy Pelham and Justin Finley and 19 great-grandchildren.
