A A Bud Davis - Class Of 1905

 

Bud attended the Carbon school through the 7th grade.  His father, (A.R.) Alton Arthur Davis was a preacher at the First Baptist Church before moving to Baird.

Mr.Davis passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at the age of 80.  A memorial service was held Saturday, January 28, at First Baptist Church,Lubbock, Texas, Ford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Hugins and the Rev. John Ballard officiating.  Private burial was under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Mr. Davis was born July 22, 1925, in Belfalls to the late Rev. Alton Arthur and Lillie (Simms) Davis.  He grew up in Baird and graduated from Baird High School.  He earned a bachelor's degree from Hardin-Simmons University.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 in the 6th infantry division.  He owned his own CPA firm and served as Crosby County Auditor for 28 years.  He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Jason Sunday School class.  He married Anne Hill on January 29, 1949, in Denton.  He then married Glenna McMullan May 1, 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Davis and wife, Tina, of Bay City; a daughter, Lisa Lyon and husband, Jim, of Flower Mound; four grandchildren, Sarah and Blake Davis and Michell and Laura Lyon; two step-sons, Jay McMullan of Salt Lake City, Utah and Kerry McMullan of Lamesa; and six step-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Billy Alton Davis and Dabney Estes preceded him in death.
