Lois Sisson (Preslar) - Class Of 1930 VIEW PROFILE

Lois Preslar, 103, of Abilene passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2017, at North's Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Roby Cemetery.

Lois Sisson Preslar was born December 28, 1913, to Charlie "Creg" Sisson and "Kippy" Jane Ray in Ringgold, TX. After Kindergarten in Ringgold, the family moved to Tishomingo, OK where Lois completed First and Second Grade. They moved back to Ringgold, then to Olden, and in 1924 they moved to Carbon, TX. Lois finished High School in 1930. She attended Randolph Junior College with a BA Degree in 1932.

In 1936, Lois began to teach in Loraine, TX. Six years later in 1942, she moved to Abilene, TX. She received a B.S. Degree from Abilene Christian College in 1941, and a Master of Education from Hardin Simmons University in 1954. She taught 32 years in Abilene retiring in 1974.

Lois married Arthur Preslar on June 27, 1942. They were married until his death on June 12, 1956.

Lois attended Highland Church of Christ and taught Bible Class until 1974. Then she became a charter member of North 5th and Grape Church of Christ in December 1974 where she taught First and Second Grade Bible Classes until 2004.

Lois had one sister, Alda Ray Sisson Tyler, born in 1927. Alda married Carnie Tyler in 1948. They had three sons - David, Steven, and Bob Tyler, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Lois enjoyed having the nephews and their children visit in the summer. She loved going to the Zoo and playing miniature golf with them.

Lois loved children and teaching. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, yard work, and Bible classes. In 2005, she had to give up her home of 54 years because of declining health.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and husband Arthur Preslar of Abilene, TX; a great-nephew Grant Tyler of Billings, MT; nephew Steven Tyler; and her brother-in-law Carnie Tyler, both of Trinity, TX; and sister-in-law Lillian Preslar of Abilene, TX.

She is survived by her sister Alda Ray Tyler of Trinity, TX; Nephews David (wife Sandee) Tyler of Billings, MT; niece-in-law Mary Anne (wife of Steven, deceased) of Trinity, TX; and Bob Tyler (wife Jeanna) of Houston, TX; great-nephews: Ricky Tyler, Vince Tyler; great nieces Elyse Tyler Carson, Amy Tyler Parker, Toni Tyler Pocock, Camille Tyler; great-great nephews Sean Tyler, Tyler Parker, Clark Tyler, Jack Tyler, Anderson Pocock; great-great nieces Jane Carson, Cambria Tyler, Tegan Parker, Anna Carson, Frances Carson.

Interment will be at Roby, TX in a private service.
